At 22, I am beginning to get noticeable gray hair behind my temples. Following what's happened with my father and grandfather, I'll be gray by the time I'm in my late twenties.

For the most part, I keep my hair cut pretty short (shaved on the sides and back, cut short on top and gelled) so when it's fresh cut, it's hard to tell, but after a couple weeks, I start getting comments on it when it's grown in.

Should I let it go gray, or should I do something to take care of it? I've been bald before, and it doesn't look too good on me. Opinions please!

dye it. i have a mate that's the same age with me (im 22 btw) that has the same problem and he always dye it black. But i think it's a hassle

Any opinion on this one is going to be highly personal. Personally, I think that in your 20s you are free to dye it or not, but when you get into your thirties it stops being flattering real fast.

Of course, that is highly subjective and you're welcome to disagree.

Oh, and there are guys in their twenties who have grey hair and are smoking hot, so don't worry :)

MMMM how about just let it be natural, it's cheaper than dye, shaving, etc just normal and a part of you :p

if you get negative comments just say you're going to be a better looking and younger version of steve martin. I think he was all white by the time he was in his mid 20's.

Natural redhead here, so I'm going white... few strands on the head and in the pubes, but my goatee is where the white really shows up...

I love it and love it on other guys...! Leave it!

ditto!! I think grey can be very hot looking..but early 20's is kind of young. and it depends on the shading of grey. pewter is a better choice of names! it's up to what makes YOU feel good

I went gray in my 20s and it made me look a lot older. You can dye it, as I do sometimes. Try it out and see what you think. Make sure you go to a professional to get it done and have them tell you what your natural hair color is. That way, should go completely gray, you will know what color you originally was.

I use a product called youth hair which changes the gray back to you normal color. Just comb it in once a week now. I even use it on my goatee.

I think it is purely up to you! I like a little gray, but many women don't. If it bothers you...dye it. If not, don't.
Or...you can cut it in a mohawk and then it won't matter what the temples look like :)

I had my first gray hair a 13... I have much more now lol

The good think about gray hair, is that you not suppose to loose to much hair when you start to have gray hair in a early age (I have no prouve of that).

At 22 it's OK to die your hair, you still a kid, but when it come to a certain age (starting 30) I think it's silly for a man to die his hair, it look like the guy is not happy with himself... my humble opinion

Thanks for the help everyone!

It seems just the hair on my head has started going silver so far (from a dark brown), my pubes when they grown in are still jet black, and my goatee is chestnut brown, streaked with a little bit of blonde.

I have no idea what my body's doing, lol.

some aromatherapist friends have told me to try 'aloe-rosemary frappucino' which are,
- 50 drops of rosemary essential oil diluted in
- 2 table spoon wheat germ oil/olive oil
- then mix with 1 table spoon of apple cidre vinegar
- and mix well with 1 cup of fresh cut aloe vera paste (peeled and clean up the yellow gum first, gloved if possible as that yellow gum can cause you itched, then put in the blender to become paste.)

how?
1. prepare the aloe vera gel first, then put it in the blender until it becomes paste
2. dilute rosemary essential oil with wheat germ/olive oil
3. mix 2 into the apple cidre vinegar
4. mix 3 to 1
5. keep the mixture in wide mouth jar and store in the fridge
6. use everyday within 7 days

how to enjoy this recipe?
- slightly apply it on the grayish hair and head skin, leave it for 30-45 mins then rinse off.

how long will it work?
- 3 weeks to 2 months depends on individual, this recipe also works with some baldness within few months!!

I think you can find these ingredients in some groceries. rosemary essential oil can be ordered through many web sites or a pharmacy near you.

if this is too complicated for you, just leave it. I do agree with some of above comments that it's sexy though!!

I started going gray about that same age, and it never really bothered me. Now I just buzz it all off an say to hell with it. If it really bothers you, you could try to dye it and see how you like the result. If you find it's too much hassle, just discontinue the dye and let it grow out.

Nothing looks worse on a man (to me) than dyed hair (especially dyed facial hair). Next to that comes really mature men with clean shaven faces--it does not make them look younger.

Grey hair is sexy and you should embrace it. My 10 cents.

I completely agree with Lex on this one. Before I even read his post I was going to say how bad dyed hair looks on men, and that you should embrace your natural color. Great minds!
