I’ve been invited the the Belvedere Guest House on Fire Island in August. The many who invited me is a good friend, but there is zero sexual energy or attraction between us. I have booked my own room. I identify as straight. I have never had a same sex encounter as an adult. As I young teenager I did participate in a number of circle jerks, but each of us stroked our own cocks and there was no touching anyone else. But that was forever ago.

I do have some same-sex attraction, and I watch a lot of gay, bisexual, and straight porn. I am attracted to guys and I think, in the right circumstance I would really enjoy some play and experimentation. I love using but plugs and vibes on myself.

But, (excuse the pun), I pretty much read as straight, I act straight, and while I have lots of fantasies about sex, I know that I’m not interested in same-sex relationships. So I’m wondering, will my straight identify be a buzz kill for the other guests? I’m not an asshole, and I’m not a macho alpha dude. Do I need to worry sbout my identity and am I obligated to essentially wear a sign that says, “I’m straight, but maybe curious?”

I have heard that there are places to hook up there, and I’m open to it, but also nervous. I’m middle-aged and not hot, in fact I’m rockin’ the dad-bod, so it’s not like I’m gonna get hit on a lot. Anyway I’m curious if anyone has some thoughts to share...

Fire Island is a lot of fun (but bring your wallet!!). Regarding the Belvedere - it had a reputation for being a real cruise-y spot. Not sure how that has changed over the years. Just make sure your travel companion knows where you stand: if you want to hook up you might want to download Grindr or a similar app. "The meat rack" is the wooded area between The Pines and Cherry Grove and has traditionally been a place where guys hook up, but beware of ticks, etc.

My thoughts? Tell your friend about your desire and ask him for his help. Not every guy out there is a fitness model and some guys find "real" men a turn on. It's all about your attitude. Don't try too hard and just have fun.

Maybe you should try not worry about how you identify and focus on what you really want. If you just want an experience that's all good.. If you don't want anything at all, that's good too..
The most important thing is that you don't cross any lines of what you want to do..
I would say go there openminded and see what it brings you..
Have fun!

I really wouldn't worry about it. If someone hits on you and you aren't interested just politely say thanks but no thanks. No need to justify or explain.

It's no different than when you hit on a woman and she says no.

You only need to explain if you meet someone you want to play with. If they know it's your first rodeo, hopefully they will go at a pace you are comfortable with. Be honest with your limits and you should be fine.

Firstly as others have said here don’t worry too much about labels and what you identify as and what men might perceive you as, just go there and have a good time. Relax, enjoy and have fun

We spent 10 years going to Cherry Grove.....and knew the owners of Belvedere..That was some time ago...It's a great house with guests coming and going at all hours...It had a trashy sort of vibe...good for singles..not for couples..
Read this article..very accurate..Have a good time....easy come..easy go....BTW try to walk to the end of Lewis Walk....we owned the last cottage on the right facing the ocean.....It was called "My Blue Heaven"......across from the meat rack entrance...

The Belvedere history Est. 1957.
