My partner and I been together for a long time now, recently had a more open conversation about having a 3way etc. Tho after that I am still not 100% convinced that he's really up for it.. his Birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of giving him a surprise which is a getaway weekend and while in hotel, I'll have him blindfolded and hire an erotic masseur to come give him a massage, with me being in the room making believe it's me until midway in then I'll join in. Me personally, I would not like having something like that sprung on me . To me, bringing another body is should always be a joint (no pun intended) decision. That's me. Your partner has a history that should give you some clues as to how open he would be to the idea. From my experience sometimes the best ideas I ever had were the ones I never acted on.
If you know he’s not entirely into a three way I wouldn’t do it. Could be very awkward or worse.

I would think it's a mistake. When it comes to those kinds of surprises it can really backfire.
I would suggest you discuss with him about going to a gay sauna or sex club as a softer entrance to opening things up. This would give him the choice of just watching or participating or just having sex with you with an audience.

I am a highly promiscuous guy. I even work in the sex industry. My bf and I treat sex for what it is--a primal urge that has nothing to do with Love or monogamy--and play apart or together. While we enjoy each other a lot ours is an emotional connection as well as a physical one. So, when it comes to sex, there is no jealousy in the fact we play with other guys because to us it is just part of our male animal Nature.
