My wife and I are getting interested in sex toys. Being new to this world, I don't know much about them. I hate buying anything without any frame of reference regarding quality, reliability, and functionality, so can anyone recommend a good brand and model of vibrator? We're looking for something rather basic, not weird, excessively kinky, or a replica of some famous pornstar's cock. Thanks in advance.

Try the Hitachi Magic Wand, or Wahl two speed vibrator with interchangeable tips. Their the best bang for the buck on the market and my wife and I have tried just about everything.

For stuff to use together don't just think of stuff for her. Try one of those Durex Play vibrating cock rings. Cheap and easy to find - just chuck it if you don't like it, buy more if you do.

I've never used a Hitachi Magic Wand but they do always get recommended in these threads, as do Rampant Rabbits. Personally I think a cheap small to medium curved vibrator is a good start. Insertable vibrators are, for me anyway, all about pressure, not stretch, and a curve accentuates that.

For clitoral stimulation bullet vibrators are the bees knees - easy to handle and move about to stimulate different areas, on you as well as on her. They often come with a variety of different shaped and textured silicon cases that are fun to play with and easy to clean. Or a cock ring with a pouch for the bullet - a reusable vibrating cock ring.

Don't be too scared to buy cheap while you're working out what you like. And whether it is cheap or expensive do not forget to wash it before you use it.

    Have fun.

I bought it at Fairvilla Megastore in Florida in August, but you can get it online too. Best $75 I think I have ever spent.

I would recommend that you go to the toy store together. They usually have samples on display that you can check out for size, shape, speed, etc. The salespeople we have met have alwayas been female and very laid back and helpful only when asked. Something with more than one speed is a good idea. Also, I like to know what it's made of before we put it in my body, so non- toxic is a must have on the label. Don't forget a good lube and cleaner.

A must have for me and my significant other-- is the small (travel size) "Pocket Rocket" known by many other copy cat names, there are many creative ways this toy can be utilized and small to carry.

I sell sex toys and can tell you that there is no such thing as the perfect toy for everyone. Some women like insertion, some like the grind, some prefer strong vibrations, others are too sensitive and need a lighter vibe.

My personal favorite toy is the Hitachi wand. Love it! But, it's a fairly strong vibration.

My personal favorite toys are made by Lelo. The quality is superb, materials are excellent, and customer service is wonderful. Love the way they look as well. A couple other good manufactures include Evolved, Fun Factory, Natural Contours and Enjoy. These manufactures products are fairly expensive but it's because of the materials they use. You want to make sure you're purchasing a product that is phthalate free. Phthalates cause problems.

Also, once you've chosen a toy, be careful which lube you use with it. Silicone products CANNOT be used with a silicone based lube - it will destroy the toy.

Another really fun toy is the Club Vibe by Ohmibod. It's a bullet that is worn inside a little pocked in a pair of panties (comes with the product) and is attached to a receiver by a thin wire/cord. The receiver worn on a pocket or even just held in your hand. The bullet vibrates to what ever sound it hears - if it's music it will have a beat to it. It also responds to voice and can be a fun thing for couples to use. They also sell a really cool vibe that is wireless and vibes to the music you're playing on your iPod.

I suggest going to visit a sex toy boutique - a higher end store than a local porn shop - someplace like a Babe Land or Good Vibrations. They have the toys out so you can hold them, turn them on and get a good idea of what you think you may like. They are also very good about answering any questions you may have.

There is a toy shop in New York City called Toys in Babeland. If you call them up, and ask for advice, they will be extremely helpful and accommodating, particularly so if you visit their website first, and ask questions about anything there which catches your eye. They are nice folks, and love to help people pick out toys.

I agree with this entirely. It took some years for me to figure out exactly what I wanted in a toy, and I will still occasionally buy one that doesn't end up being suitable. Until recently I had wondered why there weren't more toys around in styles that I liked. From reading posts here though I've discovered that the things I like aren't necessarily what everyone else likes (should have been a 'no shit' moment, but wasn't - I was genuinely surprised). In fact it seems that few women like the toys that I like. So basically, my answer is that you might need to experiment a bit. Start with one of the more popular toys, but if it doesn't rock her world don't just decide that toys aren't for her. You may not have found the right one yet.
