Welcome to the Internet.

The California Coastal Project is just as good....no , make that better.

California Coastal Records Project - Image 200505801 - "Golden Gate Bridge toll gate, San Francisco"

the resolution... is ABSURD.

They also have the "time comparison" which I hope Google will save yearly records of Earth and Maps.

Rustic Chic. It's got that trendy Deliverance rape shack infusion and the thoughtful landscaping makes everything pop.

~wonders what the sign in the front says~

1) It doesn't have a rape infusion. People always leave with a smile on their face.

2) The sign says, " Warning, Rapists live inside. Stay the fuck out and take our liquor".

Nope! it's all sandy!

But there are steep cliffs either side, which of course you don't see looking down on it!

You're only really aware of them when you're staggering home from the pub! :biggrin1:

Edit... and the tide is out there... twice a day it's up pretty much to the road so no sand showing at all!

What if you just see a blue arrow?
I try to select "street view" but nothing happens.

Are you at maps.google.com?

Does it look like this? If the streets do not get highlighted it may mean that the pics view is not available in your area.

I will add the house where I grew up...from the age of 9 till I went to school at 14, then back for vacations and holidays for another 15 years.

That's interesting. It's weird to see a building underneath the bridge. Does anyone know what that building is (or was)?

It was there before the GGB was built of course, and it's now a historical landmark.

Fort Point is located at the southern side of the Golden Gate at the entrance to San Francisco Bay. This fort was completed just before the American Civil War, to defend San Francisco Bay against hostile warships. The fort is now protected as Fort Point National Historic Site, a United States National Historic Site administered by the National Park Service as a unit of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

It's very interesting to see where everyone lives, especially Jeff Black.

Me, I like showing off where I live, which is at the base of this mountain:

south sugarloaf mountain, 01373 - Google Maps

What I think is really cool is that if you use Google Earth, you can use the controls in the upper right corner to tilt and rotate the image so that you can get a sense of what the landscape looks like from the ground. If I do it right, I can get a reasonable approximation of the view from my living room window.

Mind you, I can't afford to own a house, I just rent a modest apartment. But I have the same gorgeous view of the mountain that the people living in the McMansions one block over pay a fortune for. I take no small pleasure in that.

These are the McMansions:

Neither Google Maps nor Google Earth show my current home because the subdivision is only 4 years old. :irked: Both however show the home I lived in from 1967 to 2004.

I'm pretty sure that this is one of the Homes where George Washington slept. It is now a museum, or at least it was many moons ago when I toured it as a child.

What a fine Georgian-style house of the mid Atlantic.
