One would think that after Phil Robertson's incredibly insensitive remarks about gays and African Americans that the GOP would distance themselves as A&E did but no the response is to embrace Phil Robertson. It should be obvious by now you can't win just focusing on evangelicals and you will turn off more voters than you turn on by embracing such extreme positions. So when Election Day 2016 rolls around and gays and African-Americans and all others turned off by the religious dogma don't vote GOP they truly cannot understand why.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R), a likely White House contender whose state is home to the show about a family that runs a duck-hunting gear enterprise, called Robertson and his family “great citizens.”
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), another probable 2016 candidate, chimed in on Facebook, writing: “If you believe in free speech or religious liberty, you should be deeply dismayed over the treatment of Phil Robertson.”
And 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin wrote in a Facebook post that “those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.”
GOP hopefuls woo evangelicals by rushing to defend suspended reality-show star Phil Robertson
