'08 Bush Budget Deficit: 400 billion dollars.
'09 Obama Budget Deficit: 1850 billion dollars.

Since you brought up Reagan and GHWB upping the deficit.

So... the '09 budget was who's budget? Cuz, if the fiscal year starts on October 1, and Obama wasn't in the White House until Jan 20, I think Bush would have proposed the '09 budget, and I think he would have done so while he was still telling the American people that "we're not in a recession, we're in a slowdown." So, yeah, Obama overspent a budget he didn't get to set, that was determined before then-president Bush was aware that the American economy was danging over the cliff of a depression. Of course, it's Obama's fault!

Indeed, it was El Arbusto II who proposed the 2009 budget.

Side note: And for those who don't know Spanish, Bush II doesn't either. He read, by someone who coached him to do it phonetically (and maybe some pictures), his address to the Hispanic 'Mericuhns. They've been playing his 2002 speech off and on, in bits and pieces on a local comedy show here in Spain. If nothing else, El Arbusto was a funny clown. His mispronunciations of so many common verbs make for high comedy.

I'm really wondering if the conservatives real goal is to bankrupt the country. If you connect-the-dots:


(1) ......lower taxes

with

(6) Victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting military-recommended troop surges;
(7) Containment of Iran and North Korea, particularly effective action to eliminate their nuclear weapons threat.

You realize that war which is the most costliest endeavor a country can pursue combined with a pledge to lower taxes that the result of these actions is nothing less than an insolvent government.
