Who knew that a man's footwear could be such serious business...

Don't you see?? It's pretty straight forward, unless of course it's different than your opinion

p.s. was getting ready to post the exact same thing as you did, prior to reading your post

They may be called "UGG Boots" but they are SLIPPERS. They have never been anything but slippers, they WILL never be anything but slippers. They have slipper soles with no arch support.

Dude drop the ego and arguments, you're embarassing yourself now. People are always going to react badly when you come across as egotistical as you do, just a fair warning before you make it worse.

You just asked somebody what the upcoming fashion was lol. You sound like Gok Wan mate.

Fair enough you think you have style in everything, were just saying when you're walking down the street there are always going to people who think you look a complete twat in them. That's all.

You may call it egotistical, I call it defending a point.

As for the twat comment, you could make the exact same argument for anyone and any style. Some may think dressing in a hoodie and jeans is dressing like a twat. Is that any reason not to wear that? Of course not.

no they're not boots you smug arsehole, they were developed as slippers for australian sheep farmers, thats why they have absolutely zero support for your feet and give you feet problems.

and can you stop making references to stuff in the pass that used to be considered 'gay' which is now fine for most guys, because it has no bearing on the fact that male uggs have failed completely as a trend and the world has moved on. they're not going to become at all mainstream or straight anytime soon, get yourself an new pair of shoes, maybe a pair of high heels would suit you....

SLIPPER
A low shoe that can be slipped on and off easily and usually worn indoors.

BOOT
Protective footgear, as of leather or rubber, covering the foot and part or all of the leg.

The fact they were "developed" as slippers and zero arch support has absolutely nothing to do with whether they are boots or slippers.

My gay remark was in regards to the "uber gay comment from another poster. Also I never claimed that Uggs are fashionable worldwide (although they have been posting profits year over year for sometime indicating growth).

I actually couldn't care less if they go "mainstream" or not. I've never let the current and upcoming trends control my style and I doubt I ever will.

Nice heels comment by the way. Real original.
"I'm sorry I don't see the comparison. A boot which I have purchased and do sport every day might add, is a unisex piece of footwear. Men and women, both, sport "Boots". By your same logic a man using anti-wrinkle cream might as well use lip stick because they are both cosmetics" - Ryanp1984

Simple. Uggs are generally worn by woman, as are high heels. Men's boots are more along the lines of Timberland. I dont understand how you didn't understand, pretty straight foward really.
Uggs are a unisex boot. Just because you don't think it is doesn't make it so.

Second I can understand you don't like Ugg boots, but it really hurts your case when you use Timberlands as the blue print of what a man should wear for foot wear.

Timberlands went out long before Uggs ever did
They may be called "UGG Boots" but they are SLIPPERS. They have never been anything but slippers, they WILL never be anything but slippers. They have slipper soles with no arch support.

See my second reply to see the difference between a boot and a slipper.

Canada must be a few years behind trend, Uggs were never fashionable. Trendy maybe, fashionable is whole other level.

Uggs in the uk were considered trendy a few years back by women, now it's high cut boots and designer wellington boots. Just saying military boots would be a safer option which I myself would prefer to opt for.

I don't care what your (probably American ) definition says. I'm Australian, Uggs are Australian, they are and always have been SLIPPERS. They are for wearing around the house, they are not street shoes/boots.

I actually never said they were trendy or fashionable. I said I was "100% fashionable" and that the right man can pull off the right clothes.

And alot of people tend to go the safer route and wear the latest trends. I'm a little more adventurous.

We go by the same definition as we speak the same language. I don't speak Canadian and you don't speak Australian. We speak English. And the English definition was as I stated.

The Ugg website even refers to them as boots. They are boots. Get over it.

For someone so impressed with his own flair for fashion you seem rather reluctant to post an image of you looking stylish in your sheep shoes.

I checked out the site and some of the boots are attractive but it's been a week of you prancing your pride through this thread with nary a pic to be seen of them and now I'm irritated.

Would you be so kind as to show 'em or shut up?

its a slipper you FUCKWIT, they were specifically developed for sheep farmers in the Australian outback who obviously didn't want them to slip off of the slightest notice, and frankly its arrogant to tell an Australian that they're not slippers, how would you like it if i came to canada and said "no, you're all wrong maple syrup is actually made from pine trees"?

i hope you get collapsed arches that are so painful you can't walk, that'd serve you write for wearing a slipper 24/7

Show me a definition of a slipper that meets the criteria of what an ugg boot is. I've come into this thread with facts. I've laid out the definition of what a boot is and what a slipper is. You have come in with an opinion. As far as I'm concerned it is you opinion that it is a slipper until I see a definition that shows otherwise.

Facts buddy. Facts.

I think everyone is taking this far too seriously. According to the company's web site they make shoes, slippers and boots.
UGG
From their site...
Deckers Outdoor Corporation acquired UGG® Australia in 1995. . By 1998, the product line had grown to include two boots, four slippers, and a few casuals. It was in 1998 that UGG® Australia brand first stepped up alongside the world's finest luxury footwear brands. UGG® Australia was positioned as a high-end luxury brand, made evident by a premium distribution strategy and high-end fashion marketing and communications.

Are Uggs still in?

(I'm honestly not taking the piss, I haven't paid attention to fashion in a while and I'm out of the loop.)

Good grief, I just read the whole thread (okay, I skimmed the last two pages) but jeez, the bickering! I didn't know that a pair of shoes could cause such discord!

Not true at all ... there are some things a real "man" cant pull off .. according to your logic .. you might as well go out in a skirt

You've obviously never seen a utilikilt. Several of my heterosexual male friends wear them and they find them to be very comfortable and masculine, too.

I have no idea... But someone once asked me how I define style and I said..."I never pay attention to what is in and what is out, I buy fabrics, colors and styles that I like and suit me and have a timeless look." As I said earlier in this thread I bought a pair in Australia because I thought they would be comfortable on the long flight. I really never wear them except after skiing... nobody really makes a nice Après Sk Boot right now; they are pretty cozy shoe after a day in ski boots. My only complaint about them is they are a pain in the ass to wear while driving because I have standard transmission.

I have a boot and sneaker fetish... don't really think this makes me % gay...
As you can see, I've used my doc martens for my profile, but I also have 3 pairs of Hunter wellies, 2 pairs of John Fluevog, 2 Blundstones, 1 Sorel, etc. and yes, 1 pair of Ugg Australia (chestnut bomber). They are great - super comfortable. If you've got'em, wear'em.
