Fortunately there are all the recipes from the back issues.
The photography was wonderful along with the profiles of various types of cuisine and the food of different geographic regions.

    Sad.

Well, I am sorry that GOURMET magazine is folding. There are other ways of getting recipes and helpful tips in the kitchen.

But Conde Nast is keeping the GOURMET brand though based on what I read. So, there is hope in other markets...like books...internet...multimedia possibilities.

They should go out by publishing a book with every recipe they've ever published.

That book would be too big to lift.

But perhaps a cross-referenced DVD with definitions and articles about food goods and when they're best in-season and how to buy good ingredients and what kitchen essentials to buy... would be perfect. Sort of like a Larousse Gastronomique meets Joy of Cooking.

If they would have added a few junk stories of Jon and Kate.. the books would be flying off the shelf ....
Sorry, but now days folks only spend there money on CRAP and not good books..
I read a thread here about some COMPUTER that holds E-BOOKS..
People don't BUY good read anymore...like at the book stores ( I do)..
Everything is COMPUTER this or Computer that( I carry my books to work or in the car can't take a computer to work).
Or JUNK smut ( jon and kate PERSONAL issues on the front page) this or smut Junk that ( Some crappy so called star in the lime lite at the moment). That is what SALES every single day at work. I have NEVER seen one cooking book go though my line in the two years that I worked in my job..

I have a bunch of cookbooks. I have bought a lot of them. But, in addition to that, I have my mom's massive collection of Southern Living cookbooks.

It would be like The New Yorker DVDs.
That's a good idea, Jason ... and I'd bet it would sell, well, like (gourmet) hotcakes.

I've been making Gourmet's absolutely fantastic recipe for Pumpkin Cheesecake with Bourbon Sour Cream Topping for over 20 years at least once every Thanksgiving and Holiday season... Really sorry to see this magazine disappear from newsstands!

You had to post in this thread.
Now I have this picture in my mind of you eating a
Pumpkin Cheesecake with Bourbon Sour Cream Topping
    in a most unique way.

    Save some for someone else.

OMG! You just made that thing disappear.

Where did you put that thing?
