That's an interesting article. Grapefruits have long been touted as one of the more healthy fruits. It is probably the high level of citric acid which acts as an antioxidant.

The only problem is that grapefruit cannot be eaten or drank with numerous prescription medications. I can't have it with my thyroid meds. :frown1:

Hmmm . . . my Valium prescription says specifically "Do no eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice with this medication." After a little medical googling I discovered grapefruit enhances the effect of benzodiazepams. Thank you for this thread. I can now go back to eating one of my favorite fruits and ramp up the buzz of my favorite anti-anxiety med at the same time. Wahoo!
