way to go.

i was at the merc this morning when it happened...people were fucking terrified...

i saw several women crying, people were panicked...

even more ridiculous is the reason to do this...

this is precisely why government spends and wastes so much money...

seriously...this is the kind of important work our government does...

the DoD obviously feels it is incredibly important to constantly update patriotic pictures of Air Force 1 (well technically it is not AF1 when the POTUS is not aboard) in front of national monuments and such.

You wonder why government and bureaucracy can not be trusted?

do you know how much it costs for fuel for a 747 and accompanying fighters to just take these nifty jaunts to Mt. Rushmore, the Statue Of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge, etc...

i can only imagine how many years this has been going on for.

a 747 burns 3600 gallons of jet fuel an hour (roughly) that does not even include the 3,000 gallons it uses just to takeoff

that little jaunt today from Andrews Air Force Base and back probably used about 9,000 gallons of jet fuel

it could be one of those visa commercials

-presidential jet? 450 million dollars
-9,000 gallons of jet fuel for it? $54,000
-2,000 gallons of Jet fuel for its 2 F16 escorts? $12,000
-sowing panic in an entire city and wasting tax payer money just for an absurdly useless photo op?

priceless

talk about waste, not to mention the utter stupidity of putting all of lower manhattan into a total panic.

Between this and the swine flu (cheaper parody/spin-off of Anthrax), it's the closest thing Obama & the Democrats could do to imitate 9/11/2001 ? Obama calls it 4/27/2009.

Agree completely!

Worse yet, the entire thing was classified. Apparently the NYPD was told but nobody thought to tell the mayor who said he was, "furious." I'd love to know if anyone in the NYPD bothered to tell the FAA that this was the dumbest thing to do. It boggles my mind and if Caldera really is the person who greenlighted this thing, fire his ass. Why would you have this classified? Why not tell the media after the plane takes off but while it's in the air?

Only the government could invent a secret publicity stunt. :smashfreakB:

You have to include the amount of money lost from businesses which evacuated and could no longer conduct business and the healthcare costs associated with counseling everyone going through flashbacks.

Wholly and completely stupid stunt.

exactly jase...it is this type of utterly thoughtless, moronic thing that drives people crazy...

they throw money right down the toilet for *NOTHING*.

search Air Force One in google and Images, and you can find *THOUSANDS* of nice pictures...

did they need to spend tens of thousands of dollars just to get *MORE* of them?

it is pathetic, wasteful, irresponsible and idiotic...they might as well just light tens of thousands of dollars on fire.

Out of curiosity, did Caldera live here in the United States on 9/11? This is a tough pill to swallow.

I'm surprised that people were terrified. Vinyl Boy has insisted that the people of NYC have fully dealt with and healed from the attacks at 9/11. No need for alarm anymore. Furthermore, that paranoid moderates/conservatives such as myself and a few others 'choose to live in fear,' but the rest of the country isn't concerned about terrorist attacks or the like.

I guess sometimes things aren't as they seem.

They buzzed where all the stockbrokers and bankers work and live. Those people have had extremely nervous dispositions of late.

Most of the ones I know spend most the day on the window ledge as it is...

I work on the 6th floor. If i thought it was high enough to get the job done I may have jumped already:redface:

Stop twisting my statements, you ass.
Never once did I say that everyone in New York was perfectly fine and over 9/11. Besides, there's a major difference between this crazy stunt, that was not told by anyone by the state or federal government was going to happen and could conjure up past demons of terrorism, and the paranoid rantings of a scared Miswestern, conservative idiot like you who sits at home waiting for Habeeb to come by with a rocket launcher to take over your house. Learn the fuckin' difference.

Neither he nor I nor anyone who lived here that day would ever make that kind of statement. You get past these things, you don't get "over" them and particularly when a stupid-ass stunt like today is pulled.

au contraire. You have never made a statement like that, but Vinyl has. More than once.

Quoted for everyone to see:

Only a scared, paranoid person would actually believe that Cheney was right.

Just because the majority of Americans have moved on with their lives and decided not to live under the constant fear and threat of a terrorist attack doesn't mean that they are not concerned about it. Case in point, the majority of people who live in New York thinks Cheney needs to shut up. I guess with your reasoning, the people who live in that (or any) city that was attacked on 9/11 are irrational?

No terrorist is targeting you and your home, wherever that is. Grow a pair of balls and stop acting so shook.

Where in this statement do I imply that "the people of NYC have fully dealt with and healed from the attacks at 9/11?" It doesn't... for one, it says the "majority" and I said that they've learned to move on. If you don't understand what I'm trying so say, don't ASSUME it and make an ass of yourself. Or at least apologize for making a mistake.

Anymore examples?

There have been other references, I just don't have the inclination to spend hours going through old posts.

My interpretation of the above post - along with a few others that you have made - is that your views of terrorists/terrorist threats don't represent that of a very large percentage of people.

Perhaps its your personality; perhaps its your way of dealing with the tragedy.

If I'm wrong, then I stand corrected.

However, IMO you are more dismissive of a looming threat than most.

That's because I never made such a post.

My interpretation of the above post - along with a few others that you have made - is that your views of terrorists/terrorist threats don't represent that of a very large percentage of people.

No... you said, and I quote again:
"Vinyl Boy has insisted that the people of NYC have fully dealt with and healed from the attacks at 9/11." and you cannot prove that.

If anything, your view of terrorism is the one that should be under scrutiny. For starters, you condone the use of torture. Your overly generalizing biases lead you to label anything related to Islam as demonic and evil. You sit in a home in the Midwest, thousands of miles away from the targets that terrorists look at, and act as if they are at your doorstep. I highly doubt that the majority of people on this planet live in such fear over terrorism like you.

Perhaps its your personality; perhaps its your way of dealing with the tragedy.

No... it's your ability to jump to conclusions, continually fail at comprehension and try to make me some kind of example.

However, IMO you are more dismissive of a looming threat than most.

Spoken like a man who just has been dismissed. Now kindly, shut up.
