Take a moment to visit http://www.pandora.com.
It's a Flash-driven music site. You can punch in the name of a song or artist you like, and the computer will search its directory of songs/artists to play a song that you might like. Recommendations are based on aspects of the song choice that seem common among a set of music. Your recommendations become a somewhat randomized "radio station." You can thumbs-up or thumbs-down the selections and skip (a few) songs. You can also "blend" song types. For instance, if you type in Tori Amos and then type in Nikka Costa, the computer will try to play a blend of aspects of both types of music that you might like.
A few of my friencs who I've recommended it to say that it's a great site, and I thought I'd pass it along here.
