I just found a collection by Verve which I must have... It is called The Ulitmate Diva Collection check it out...

    http://www.vervemusicgroup.com/product.aspx?ob=disc&src=art&pid=10796

Now these were the voices I grew up hearing, lusting after and ultimately owning....

Notice a similar smokey quality for all of them? My personal favorites are DInah Washington,Sarah Vaughn, Carmen Mc Rae, Shrley Horn, Peggy Lee, Ella and Etta James...

A similar quality there... I think Lena was beautiful but I almost fell out when I say a picture of Carmen McRae. Have you seen those eyes? They would stop you in your tracks...

    All wonderful naughty!!

Here's a slight change of pace; The Myth of Red featuring the ethereal voice of Sasha Lazard. She was all the rage two years ago in Italy and I still love this album. Cuts 1. Stabat Mater and 11. Princess Mononoke are particularly well done.

What she does with the Stabat Mater is the most wonderful mix of the East with this early classic Latin Hymn. The subliminal tribal underbeat is mesmeric.

I dedicate Princess Mononoke to our very own Sorcerer.

    naughty!

This is especially for you. Generally I'm not a huge fan of Michael Bublé's but this cut (number 4 Quando, Quando, Quando) has that Brazilian feel we both love so much. Nelly Furtado adds so much to it too.

    It's his It's Time album.

My friend Riccardo at my favorite wine bar in Venice turned me onto it last year and I cannot hear it but think of sipping fine wine in the company of wonderful friends in the late hours of a summer night in Venice.

    Again; Listen to cut #4.

    tronzo,

I enjoyed the ease and liquidity with which they delivered that song .Their voices were well matched and it was a delightful flirtation for the ears...

Nancy WIlson's sound comes from her being influenced by Dakota Statton
