Masturbation is neither a "gay" nor exclusively homosexual activity. It is a human activity, therefore, men doing it in front of other men as a group activity doesn't make anyone gay. I think people tend to tag it as gay (as a group activity) because gay men are considered so extremely dick focused/centric. Personally I think most straight men are just as penile centric as gays. It's just that gay men typically are not hung up about expressing that interest and are much more in touch with their sexuality in general.

Where the line (ususally) gets crossed is when there is male on male contact while masturbating (as an adult). I know many straight guys who have no problems jacking off in front of other straight buds watching porn for example, and they may be titilated looking at other erect and aroused penises while stroking their own, but no one ventures to lend a buddy a hand and get him off.

As soon as there is male on male contact while masturbating then there is at least bi-sexual--if not homosexual--interest.

There are a couple of problems with the OP's questions. First, an activity cannot determine one's sexual orientation - jacking off with other guys doesn't make you gay, and refraining from jacking off with other guys doesn't make you straight. Sexual orientation is determined well before birth. so, it's the other way around - people generally engage in particular sexual activities because of their sexual orientation.

Second, it's a little sad when people allow others to determine what sexual activities they engage in. Each person should try to understand his (or her, or their) sexual orientation, then take control of his life and decide for himself which sexual activities are appealing. Don't give other people that control over your life.
