i suppose this was bound to happen (who could have predicted this occurring on an MTV show, based on the Real World type format, about a bunch of obnoxious guidos and guidettes in New Jersey, who are constantly plied with alcohol and go out to clubs)

anyhoo, i have not watched this show for the obvious reasons, but apparently, one of the more obnoxious characters on the show, a girl named Snooki Polizzi or something, started a verbal fight in a bar, with a really big dude...apparently after she called the dude ugly and an ugly ass, the dude finally had enough of her ugly, obnoxious ass, and he hauled off and smashed her in the face.

now, i am against domestic violence and men beating up on women, etc...but if you choose to go on a reality TV show, behave like a total asshole, get shitfaced and get in people's faces, call them ugly and stick your hand in their face, should you really be surprised when you get socked in the face by someone who is not that smart, and probably annoyed and a bit drunk, who is perhaps not interested in being taunted by anyone, man or woman?

in another strange twist of fate...the guy who did it, is a Queens, Nyc public school gym teacher.

I love how she was all pressed down on that floor crying and carrying on. What did she think was going to happen?

I am with you on the domestic violence bit, never a good thing. However, as you mentioned, if you act up in public like that just be prepared for what can happen.

    Consequence is no coincidence.

very true...i actually think i am in error in calling this "domestic violence".

this was a public spat...it was not the serial or one time abuse of a man of his girlfriend etc...

this is what happens probably thousands of times a night at frat parties, cheesy clubs, bars all over the country, with stupid guys doing it to each other...and probably, once in a while, if a woman behaves as badly and stupidly as the kind of guy who winds up getting slugged, she probably deserves it, just like anyone else does.

this guy would have slugged anyone that got in his face at that moment.

obviously the whole "hitting girls" thing is not for me...and frankly, i have never hit anyone, nor want to...but there are folks out there, who, do not regard women as being exempt from a smack, should they behave as badly as a man does in public when under the influence.

obviously, before anyone gets hysterical, i am not condoning men hitting women in domestic situations/relationships......but when you put obnoxious, dumb, low-minded, lowclass men and women into a situation where there is argument, you mix in a ton of alcohol, frankly, you should not be surprised when someone gets hit...girls hit each other all the time in these type of situations...so do guys...occasionally you will see girls hitting guys...ultimately, their assumption is that most guys subscribe to the "don't hit girls" mantra....

obviously, that is a big mistake....if you do not want to take the chance of being hit, whether you are a man or a woman, do not get in someone's face, insult them, harangue, or even hit, assuming they will play by the "rules" in return.

I'm all for hitting women if they get in my g-damned face. I'm gay, I could care less about chivalry. Sexual equality and all that jazz

Is she pressing charges? Sounds like assault to me. Although she may have "deserved" it, I don't think the law looks at it that way.

I've never seen the show you are talking about.

Isn't that the whole point and the desired result the producers wanted? I doubt that the crew was surprised. They were probably well prepared for what happened. TV shows like this are quite deliberately set-up to illicit outrageous behavior from the dumbasses letting themselves be manipulated.

I can't think of a better indicator of the decline of American culture than the popularity of these low-brow, predictable "reality" shows. Spend a week watching US television and if you don't come to the conclusion that the country is going to hell in a hand basket, then you'd probably do well as a participant on one of those programs.

Have you ever been to NJ? And if so, have you ever been outside Newark?

It bears pointing out that only one of the cast members is actually from New Jersey. The rest are from New York.

I personally feel the guy should have showed restraint and not struck out. Yes, she was "getting in his face" but a real man would know that you don't hit a woman - simple.

I don't know about that... there's a great scene in The Verdict where Paul Newman punches the lights out of Charlotte Rampling and the whole theater cheered.

As an Italian-American, I have to say I don't know what the hell is wrong with these dumb guidos and guidettes. I think the cast of Jersey Shore has a collective IQ of about 1. Maybe I'm being generous.

so, it is four months and one full jersey shore season later...and i thought we would revisit this thread...

what the fuck is wrong with our country, that these "people" are now celebrities?

BAR REFAELI was in a photo shoot with these dickwads, and they are all over the place now...and are renewed for another season.

i fucking hate MTV and i hate these people.:mad::mad:
