LOL. excellent...

Oh it was a rip, I think, from Full Metal Jacket,... when Private Pyle (Pvt Leonard Lawrence) names his rifle Charlene... except in this case... there ain't many like my Charlene, and this one IS mine
She's a 1958 Fender 1000 double neck peddle steel in near Mint condition...given to me by Pete Townshend over a bar bet in Martinique. I think she's easily north of 60 lbs. (insert kilogram conversion [here])

Ok, the Towser bet is false, but Charlene is for real. If anyone can show me how to really turn Charlene on and make her purr, beers on me. I did run into Ben Keith in a surf bar in these parts, and his advice was ... don't try too hard. Thanks. Lotsa help (rollseyes)

After posting, recalled getting this earlier today:

BB King calling Jeff Beck a young man.... epic, epic stuff. [edited to include said quote, whoops]
"He's a talented young man," said the seventy-six-year-old King of the fifty-eight-year-old Beck at a New York press conference to announce their tour.

Like, when a then-over-the-hill Jimmy Page at the graces of Les Paul in person.

Shame there's noone really to pass the torch too... what used to be dozens of axemen, we'd be lucky to find any.

Imagine Stevie Ray these days... still going, keeping it real. Sigh. I'm not the biggest SRV fan, but a bummer. Course, "The Edge" does some of the most prolific sounds and voicings, but he's not a classic jam guy... the rest are wankers, unless I'm missing someone.
