I forgot to clarify, when I say I shoot for sport, that just means going to a gun range and hitting targets. Nothing living. Only if we're going to eat it.
I own firearms because I want to. That better?
I hunt infrequently, but enjoy when I do. Don't need to shoot anything I'm not going to eat, but love venison.
I enjoy shooting recreationally and value the opportunity to teach my children how to safely and responsibly handle firearms.
I value the ability to protect my home and family.
If I am not home, my guns are locked away where they cannot be stolen without Herculean effort. If someone steals my television while I'm gone, so be it. It's a problem for Chubb, not me. I'll be pissed, but I'll get a new TV and I would not shoot someone to stop them from stealing a TV.
If, on the other hand, someone enters my home while occupied, either my wife or I would not hesitate to use deadly force to protect ourselves and our family. Wouldn't think twice about it. Simple as that.
Here we go again, I, I, I, I, I, I, my, my, my. But it’s not about you, is it, Mimi? Nobody cares about what the fuck you do.
What people worry about are Charles Whitman, Jared Loughner, Dylann Roof, Nidal Hassan, Adam Lanza, Omar Mateen, Chicago gang shooters, Waco biker gangs, Chris Harper-Mercer, Sayed Rizwan Farouk, Cho Seung-Hui, and Stephen Paddock
How better to understand social unrest than to let agencies like the CDC study it: afraid of what they might find?
Ma'am, your statement is simple bigotry and self righteousness. I do not belong to the NRA and I do not own any firearms, but you have condemned a very broad swath of America to moral inferiority. Want to know a growing, gun buying demographic? Liberal women. Yep. For self defense. Another growing, gun buying demographic- black men with families. Same reason for purchase. Please, Ms. Swoon, stop making personal judgments and consider the possibility that normal, decent people buy firearms for self defense in this country.I would like them to also profile anyone who owns a gun. If the majority of Americans do not own a gun, then what is it makes some decide that they need one?, the people arguing pro guns often don't seem to have the healthiest outlook on life.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Our guns are useless again the firepower our government has. The argument falls flat on it's face. Back when the second amendment was written, it was plausible. Today, not close.
Pesky facts, the militias mentioned in the 2nd amendment were for the purpose of fighting slave rebellions, not the government.Actually not true at all. Your really should keep up with CURRENT history.
The rebellion in Spain is happening now. And in Venezuela...and other places around the planet.
History is replent with examples of the population...the MILITIA in the correct terms...over powering the abuses of government. Even in modern times....see the 70 or so revolutions that occurred in the last 25 years. So YOUR argument is false.
And there is another caveat....the "government" soldiers/police...at some point in the carnage...get tired of shooting at their own friends and family.
Oppps....those pesky facts get in the way of your comments again.
Those are not purposes protected by the Second Amendment. Absent an "armed militia" argument, the Second Amendment fails and the alt-left will be knocking on your door and mine.

It's well known that killing animals for fun is a psychopathic trait, but fair enough if you are going to eat them.I hunt infrequently, but enjoy when I do. Don't need to shoot anything I'm not going to eat, but love venison.
Doesn't sound like as much fun as tiddlywinks to be honest. You might also enjoy throwing things at the waste paper bin and seeing if you can get them in there sometimes if you ever fancy a change. That doesn't seem like a good reason or argument for gun ownership.I enjoy shooting recreationally and value the opportunity to teach my children how to safely and responsibly handle firearms.
This is obviously about fear, even though you stated in another thread that for you a home invasion is unlikely and has never happened in your zip code. So that does make you sound a bit paranoid. Whether your fear is justified or not, what you are frightened of is the fact that other people have guns. If they didn't would you still feel the need to own guns?I value the ability to protect my home and family.

The Second Amendment is NOT a limit to only uses by a "militia"...that is listed as one of the reasons...not all reasons...and the courts have always recognized all uses other than criminal activities such as murder and robbery, etc.
We'll get rid of all our guns when EVERYBODY get rid of their guns. Or when all the assholes in the world are gone.
Until then, Lock and Load.
Paddock didn't kill all of the people who died in gun incidents so far this year.Ma'am, your statement is simple bigotry and self righteousness. It may be true that some gun owners are extremists, and some may be mentally imbalanced. Yep, this is reality in America today. So? You would take away the right of those liberal ladies and black fathers to defend themselves and their families? How would this stop another Paddock from killing? How? I am certainly willing to entertain common sense regulations to avoid selling to crazy people or felons. Check! While we are at it, enforce what is already on the books. Check! We are on the same page with these. Let's focus on these, and stop making flaming general pronouncements about people's characters.
