Fuzzy, over the time I've been on this forum, is one of the most reasonable and open minded of those on the liberal side

I really don't care what side he is on. I tend to lean quite a bit left myself. Doesn't mean I will tolerate being insulted.

But, actively attacking one of the few on this forum who is actually willing to listen might not be the most effective strategy.

It's a great a strategy for me. I have found it is pointless to waste my time on people who insult me, or fail to read what I have written before replying. And I warned him twice. Lucky for him, we will more than likely be on the same side than against, so he will not have to respond to me, and he can save his insults for those who enjoy flaming and trolling.

I trained w/an M-16 whenn I was in the Army. In fact my company was the first to do so. Army companies before mine trained w/M-14's. M-16's are gas driven...Which causes the bolt action to snap back quicker than with any other weapon previously. Only thing was the weapon, could not fire properly in the automatic position. The bolt action was not fast enough. In fact it was reccomended that you only hold down on the trigger no more than 3-4 rounds, before taking you're finger off the trigger because of the jamming problem. In fact the weapon I trained with in the Army, had no automatic selection. It was semi-automatc or single shot. We weren't allowed to fire the M-16 on the firing range in the semi-automatc position. Since deer or ducks don't roam the woods or fields with one, why should the gun owner? So I'm for dumping all automatic and semi's from personal ownership.

Well, you certainly think very highly of yourself. Confidence counts for a lot, especially in a debate scenario.

Since I lean solidly conservative, I expect that we will find ourselves in disagreement at some point. I look forward to it.

Oh, you didn't know calling somebody who might actually have some world experience, and might actually be very highly educated on these subjects, maybe even a university degree in the field... "paranoid" would be a little insulting?

Hmm.. didn't cross your mind?

Why should I bother wasting my time with the likes of you? I can find any old gun control liberal on any old board and be called "paranoid" and a "conspiracy theorist" by him... ....anywhere. I don't need you. And you certainly have brought no new ideas or arguments to the table that I have not heard before either on other message boards or through cable news talking points a dozen times before.

It's unreasonable for me to waste my time talking to someone who can't help but throw an unreasonable dig in here and there.

And then you try to pass it off as if it were a joke? You must think I am dumb. Calling me "paranoid" and a "conspiracy theorist" was not sarcastic, nor was it an attempt at any kind of humor. It was an attempt to belittle my position before I spoke, and to insult me.

You did not say you have a degree though did you? By the way, speaking of paranoid, I always find it interesting how someone acts, reacts or over reacts in a way as to be tragically wounded by off the cuff comments made in a public forum on the internet. While being anonymous?

No it didn't. Congrats. Let's compare notes. RedneckGymRat has a background in poli sci, Conan in high-profile journalism. A lawyer, an engineer, a nurse and a few military guys have posted here, and there are many with valuable empirical evidence and testaments (gun users, collectors and gun victims alike) to add to this thread. Wear a thick skin and join in the chaos.

Gosh. So sensitive. Fuzzy did not call you a conspiracy theorist; Fuzzy alluded to it... not a big difference, but still a difference nonetheless. And Fuzzy did not call you "paranoid." In fact, it was you who brought accusations of crazy into this, not Fuzzy.

It's unreasonable for me to waste my time talking to someone who can't help but throw an unreasonable dig in here and there.

It's what us Wuzzies do. U mad bro?

No. Not really. You spoke and Fuzzy replied. If you want to argue then Fuzzy can turn on the CAPS LOCK. If you want to introduce an academic discussion (so far, you haven't) to a problem much larger than our egos, then it would be greatly appreciated by Fuzzy.

Call it over-reaction if you want.

Is it not my prerogative to insist on the highest degree of respect, if you are to communicate with me?

I really am sick of flaming and trolling on forums. Especially moderated ones where experts in underhanded insults reign. It is either complete respect, or I am not talking to you.

And it's not like this is the first time I've had someone open with a veneer of civility, all the while calling me "conspiracy theorist" and "paranoid". I know where this is all going, and frankly, I do not have time to be called stupid, ignorant, and delusional by someone. (Or be told in a sideways way, like "people that think like SeattleYo are stupid, ignorant, and delusional)" As if I am too dumb to know you are insulting me.

And I do have a quite relevant university degree. I also have pictures of myself nude here, and a unique craft, (not related to my degree.) So not too many details. You'll probably figure out the degree, eventually, maybe.

Not happening fuzzy.

there is no difference to me, I've been on too many moderated forums to know better. You were going there, and you went down the road not once, but twice.

Believe me, Seattle Yo, Fuzzy is not a troll.
You will see that soon enough.
You know, you're got to roll a bit with the punches on here.
Nothing works otherwise.

Actually, I don't have to at all.
If you insult me, I'll call you out for it, and I will certainly not respond to your points.
I have my reasons.
And that is the way it will be.

That simply did not happen.

He should not have had to. Basic manners.

Besides, whether or not he has a degree should not affect how he is treated, or how his ideas are or are not received.

Fuzzy mentioned only one of my degrees, earlier. (And it was touching that he remembered, thank you.) But, speaking only for myself, whether or not I am degreed should have no bearing on whether or not my statements are worthy of consideration.

This particular subject has been goin for some 77 pages now. I do not think anyone that has posted in it at some time, has typed something, that if another wished or wanted to take to heart, then use as an excuse to cry foul they could.

When you communicate here, you communicate with the public. When I communicate with someone on the street, I do not do it by standing behind a wall, or as if I am in a confessional. Some prefer that, that's their perogative.

I have found at times, the political forum particularly can be the home of underhanded inuendo. Probably from dwelling on the ramblings of politicians is the reason why. Is why I don't visit here much. To be honest, if you think fuzzy did you a bad, ok, I really did not see it.

I don't recall you being named as stupid, ignorant or delusional either. Maybe I missed that part.

I agree with this; however, it was SeattleYo who introduced the issue of education level as though it were relevant.

Hot in here. I'm going to check the boiler.

And I've changed my online habits after I occupied for a couple of months. There was lots of face to face interaction. I'll be damned, I talked with lots of liberals who did not see eye to eye with me on many things. But not once was I called stupid, ignorant, paranoid, loony or a conspiracy theorist. Because in face to face interaction, that shit don't happen. Especially when the spirit is in free speech and trying to solve problems.

"Paranoid" and "conspiracy theorist" is a form of "delusional". Stupid and ignorant are not far behind, but did not happen yet.

Well, I don't know how many flame wars you've been in, or if you have a degree... ...but it is awfully annoying when someone who obviously has never read a single book in your area of expertise, decides to call you stupid, or delusional in that area.

It's really annoying.

Watch, if you like, Alex Jones go stark raving nuts with zero provocation (he doesn't even give his interviewer a chance to talk after his initial question) in defense of the second amendment:

Angry Gun Advocate Loses It Live On CNN In The Most. Bizarre. Interview. EVER.

He seems to be presenting a lot of the same arguments that I have heard here with only a difference of tune: argumentum ad Hitlerum, etc.

Watch Piers Morgan, a couple of weeks earlier, say to Larry Pratt, of Gun Owners of America:

"You're an unbelievably stupid man, aren't you?"
Heated Debate - "You're An Unbelievably STUPID Man Aren't You!" Piers Morgan To Pro-Gun Guest - YouTube

^^^ That's how Piers Anthony treats guests who try to have a civil debate with him. Watch. ^^^

So Alex Jones Showed Piers Anthony what a Prissy little twit he is. He humiliated him on his own show. His producer was in tears.

Quite right. As with my practical expertise in my field. If persons begin brandishing degrees, it belittles a public forum and opinion. Many out there have much experience in their lives to share. Much, much more than I could ever hope to have.

That is what forums are about to me. When someone cries foul, of being wounded over misinterpretation, as I saw no evidence of a hurtful vendetta, personal attack on seattle by fuzz, I am wondering why the over reaction. Anyway, life goes on.

It was a disgusting display.
It ought to cost Alex Jones a good deal of the support that he astonishingly manages to win. I doubt that it will, though.
Now, that's a real paleoconservative ... full of certainty, narrowness and belligerence.
Piers Morgan's relative composure -- even as he found himself astonished by the absurdities he was being showered with -- was a great moment in television.

EDIT: Just saw this:
So Alex Jones Showed Piers Anthony what a Prissy little twit he is. He humiliated him on his own show. His producer was in tears.
To each his own, but I just didn't see it this way.
I thought Piers Morgan seemed self-possessed (or reasonably so), and Jones seemed unhinged.

Jones was unhinged. That was the point.

Just because Piers is appearing to be polite, (and as I have linked to a video, where he calls a man, in civil gun control debate "a really stupid man, aren't you?") which currently has 370,000 views. (More than Piers Anthony's viewership), does not mean he is polite.

Furthermore, his agenda is indeed, not polite at all, it is despicable, and his attempts to blame a certain gun, which is used in a tiny fraction of killings, shows he is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Obama administration. This is not about ratings, it is about Obama administration propaganda.
