Guns, the penis, and power

What are you talking about?

I never COMPARED guns to penises.

I said that the gun is often used as a euphamism for penis.

I then said that in the US violence is more acceptable than sex is.

Where is there a fuckin' "comparison" between the gun and the penis in any of this? If anything, I've said that I agree with what the documentary filmmaker said: that ultimately the penis and the gun do very different things, in fact, the polar opposite of one another; the penis creates life, while guns destroy life. I also said it is interesting that, as the documentary filmmaker pointed out, in the US you can show scenes of violence (unless they are perpetrated by the US government or may harm the US government's public image, such as the case with the Iraq war), but nudity and sex is far more taboo.

Please stop reading nonsense into what I write.

You can compare guns to penises all you want.

Well, it is impossible to apply a euphamism without the element of comparison. Sorry you had to hear it this way. In fact it is impossible to even mention a specific euphamism without presenting a comparison. You need to write more carefully.

You are not using the word "euphamism" correctly.
"outhouse might be a euphamism for "shithole". But "gun" is really not a euphamism for "penis".
You need to look this stuff up. I'm getting a bit tired of doing your homework for you.

Before I begin Ganymede,..
I see many of your points, and they are valid. So relax, at least I can understand you, and i've seen much of the world.
Some people here will not accept your points and attack you directly.
If you can still understand me, I will continue... (otherwise I will try later)

(( btw. making sound sense, irrespective of logic, seems to be the clincher of arguments i've witnessed. ))

Yes, they can protect life ... by taking a life.

However you slice it, the purpose of a gun is to kill. Whether that killing is justified or not is a matter of opinion. But whether justified or not, killing is killing -- and that is what guns do. Are you all only now discovering this? One would think this would be a prerequisite to owning a gun.
They can protect life by *injuring* / claiming life.
They can protect life through threat, fear, intimidation... other things too.

Guns are not versatile in their physical application (unless in skilled hands) but they can still be used for many purposes.
I feel big guns are like big penises too... their image is used to maintain superiority.

"I then said that in the US violence is more acceptable than sex is."
On the SBS television station here... sex sex sex + sex = PG (guidence reccomended). One swear word in an otherwise clean film = M15+. Makes for great late-night international porn.

You are being confused through these arguments, but I feel your intentions were curious and pure.

And yes, the truth is being buried.

Let me deconstruct your deconstruction of my post to Wrat: Butting in to a discussion you weren't a part of.

If you post publically, you can expect comments from any side. If you wish to take it private with Wrat, do so.

If conservatives in this country don't hide dead bodies, then why did the Bush administration issue a ban on photographs of coffins of dead soldiers returning from Iraq?...If conservatives in this country don't hide dead bodies, then why is very little footage available in mainstream media outlets regarding the casualties of Iraqi civlians? Did you know this isn't the case in other countries? Other countries have no problem showing what the US is actually doing.
I applaude the press, both US and worldwide, for their reporting on Iraq. I find it generally better than the coverage on Afganistan and Darfur.

Tell me, again, what part of this statement don't you agree with: Guns are weapons intended to be used to kill people.
It's incomplete, as pointed out by Wrat.

Take care

A gun shoots. The penis ejaculates. That is, both eject something from themselves. THAT is the only "comparison" implicit in what I wrote. Our society is more comfortable with weaponry than with sexuality, so it is logical that in our society a man who wants to appear macho and acceptable will emphasize the weaponry aspect of his penis rather than the sensual nature of it, thus referring to it as a "gun," etc.

I am using the term euphamism correctly. You just don't agree with my analogies and therefore are saying I'm not using them correctly.

Euphemism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A euphemism is an expression intended by the speaker to be less offensive, disturbing, or troubling to the listener than the word or phrase it replaces, or in the case of doublespeak to make it less troublesome for the speaker. When a phrase is used as a euphemism, it often becomes a metaphor whose literal meaning is dropped. Euphemisms may be used to hide unpleasant or disturbing ideas, even when the literal term for them is not necessarily offensive.

Lastly, fuckhead, it's your lucky day. I've decided to leave the forum. I can't feel comfortable here while dealing with idiots like you who stalk my every term and come across as belligerent, self-righteous assholes. Do me a favor and fuck off, okay? :asshole:

Correct. They share many aspects, even if people refuse to join the dots.

Meeeeooowww!
What a little puss.
Look, man...like I said before. If you don't like my angle then don't respond to my posts. If you don't like people to disagree with you then don't post on the internet. Personally I think you are a road rage event looking for a place to happen.
I've seen those cute little junior jumbles you belt out when you want to show everybody that you can use a bunch of words in a row, and if that's what you are all about then good for you. But don't expect to present anything smacking of philosophy without being challenged. That's ignorant. You might try reading a few books. Not just the ones with pictures of Greek Gods in them. That's a good way to learn how other people think and solve problems. Leave your crayons in the box.

Good luck. Really.

Now go ahead and post over this so you can have the last word and go the fuck away.
