    Lies, damned lies!

It's correct... except that it's usual to express the second measurement in terms of girth (Umfang), rather than width, outside the German-speaking world.

Oh good, yet another Alex has arrived.

Schöne Grüße aus Baden-Württemberg und herzlich willkommen bei LPSG!

    Wilkommen aus Alaska .
If you are interested, John Tradescant was the first English botanist to collect in Virginia (the name was early applied by the english to the continent) in the 1630's. There is a genus in the family iridacae called tradescantia, (commonly spiderwort), there are several other botanical applications.

I like the name, not familiar with the cultivar. Very few roses are hardy enough for south central Alaska, one I have is called Austrian briar, very bright yellow, mostly people here grow just rugosa's, white and rose colored.

Ihre english ist mehr besser als meinem deutch, Ich glaube.

Philippa Gregory wrote a historical fiction biography of John Tradescant's life. It's quite a good read.
