It's all relative.
My current gf has had 40+ partners and has had, from what I can gather from what she describes, at least 4 guys that were in her words huge.

I have only discussed penis size with my wife and 2 prior lovers. All three were quite experienced. I am around 8" BPEL, 7" NBPEL. All three said they had at least one prior partner who was bigger, in my wife's case considerably bigger.

If she truly had 40+ partners, she would absolutely know you're big. I'm about 7nbp(7 3/4bp)x 5 5/8 midshaft girth. I haven't always had a partner freak out, but I was never quoted as average. At the very least, I was quoted as somewhat above average. The older and very experienced ones were the ones that stated I was big. Probably not their biggest, but still big. If you're 6'3", you will look small next to Shaquille O Neal, but that doesn't mean in any way that you're even of average height. I think she may have had a few of these "huge" guys perhaps right after a true average guy, and it skewed her perception just a bit.

Also: She may also be referencing girth. You are technically above average, but within the normal range, so that may throw her off a bit too.
