It sounds to me like it's defaulting to the QuickTime Player for .avi files. If I were you, I'd download something like VLC or mplayer (VLC is the swiss-army knife and leatherman of video players; it does everything).

You are exactly right. It was defaulting to the QT player. I downloaded the VLC, dropped the Guys Gone Wild file on it and bingo: sound!

3). Download VLC media player - 0.8.5

With this combination, I am able to see almost any avi, either through QT or VLC.

You can get DivX for Mac and VLC from versiontracker.

Thanks for the extra info. I just downloaded the DivX for Mac 6.5.1, but it also will not play the audio for this particular .avi. The only thing that played the audio was the VLC.

At least with all of these new downloads, I should be ready for anything.
