I noticed in college it wasn't that big of a deal for guys to share clothes and even underwear. When I got my first apartment at age 21 with a friend, we constantly had people over and sleeping on the couch after a night out and if someone needed clothes or underwear, we'd give it to them to wear and people were constantly leaving clothes over and I'd just wash them with mine and if I ran out of my own, I'd wear theirs. Me and my roommate wore the same size and we basically just shared clothes even underwear.
One of my friends came into town to visit for a weekend and we were looking at photos from college on facebook and one was of me passed out drunk and I had on a pair of his boxers that were white but had four leaf clovers all over it and the words "my lucky boxers" and he pointed out that those were his real lucky boxers and coincidentally I was wearing them and showed him. They are actually good material to hold up all these years and no holes or tears and they are not even faded. I rarely wear them, because my underwear tastes have changed since college.
I mentioned that he always wore my Calvin Klein underwear too and my wife said we were gross, and we just shrugged. As long as it has been washed and cleaned what is the big deal?
We went out to eat and met up with her brother and she asked her brother if he would ever borrow or wear another guys underwear and he said he did in college. He said someone was always behind on laundry and if they needed something they would just raid their roommates room and nobody thought anything of it.
It must be a guy thing. My wife thinks it's gross.
