Hi. So on my spending spree today I also want to get The Guyver anime on DVD. But which one!? There are so many. To make it even more confusing they are all called 'The Guyver Vol. 1/2' even though they are made by different studios.

The one I at first wanted was the one from the 90's which is in English. It had twelve episodes and I don't know how complete it was in terms of story. But its the first one I saw and I really like it, especially the soundtrack.

UK2USA - Anime DVD Megastore, Anime & Manga Region 1 DVD Specialists

    I think thats it.

HOWEVER, I also stumbled across this:

HMV.co.uk: Music CDs, DVDs, Games & More

Note there are Volume 1 AND 2 there. But they are made by a different studio and curiously only go as far as episode 8. But I gather from the description its more 'complete'. But I don't like the wording in the description...its kind of off putting.

Anyone had experience with any of these/know which one I should get? Or if there are anymore english dubbed versions? I don't really like the ones with subtitles. Its hard to read and enjoy the animation at the same time

    Thanks

You should get the ones available on the internetz. lol Welcome to the world of technology. However, I will not provide you with the names of any programs with which to do so. Cuz that's a :nono:. You're on your own there.

As far as anime is concerned, I prefer subtitles. Some would say that when they're dubbed that the translation is lost. I disagree, but prefer to hear the original voices for the show/movie. Sometimes the dubbed voices are just straight up annoying.

Also, I don't care for Guyver. lol

Well there are 2 guyver series; the guyver ova series was 12 episodes but it's not very complete story-wise as it only covered the first few volumes of the manga. Then there was a more recent guyver tv anime series which was 26 episodes and covered more of the story (up to the arrival of the guyver gigantic). If you want the whole sotry though get the manga lol :)
The first link you posted is the ova series, the 2nd link MIGHT be the TV series but I can't tell; though with only 4 episodes per volume obviously not all of them have been released yet either way.

There is also the guyver;out of control ova feature film plus the 2 live action movies; the live action movies are absolutely terrible but quite funny to watch :)

To be honest you should just download both versions and watch them to see which you prefer before you go buying the dvd :)

Thanks guys. I've already got the original/OVA series but the quality is pretty shit. I think they're TV/VHS rips and there's scanlines and all sorts in it. Plus I don't mind buying the DVD since I really like it.

I might get both...what I'm curious about though is if the OVA (first link) is Vol 1. then where is Vol. 2 of it?

I'm also downloading the 26 episode one now. Even though its english subs

I could download Quantum Leap too but sometimes if I really like something I like to pay for it

I've seen the films too. The one with David Hayter is the better of the two I think. I kinda like that. Mr Hayter also does the voice of Solid Snake in MGS :biggrin1:

Thanks peeps. I'm tempted to get those two from HMV as well but would it be worth it? Since a lot of it will be almost the same as the OVA. Maybe eps 7 and 8 would be slightly different?

I guess I'll look around for an English Guyver manga. I love the action in the anime though...especially in episodes 4 and 5 of the OVA. :biggrin1:

So what anime do you peeps like? I also really like the Vampire Hunter D animes...heh.

the first link is the complete series so only 1 volume :) Heh I used to love quantum leap but he never got home :( lol

I dunno about the 2 from HMV as i can't work out what series it is :) Yea Vampire Hunter D is good too :)

Most of the stuff I watch is stuff like Eyeshield21, bleach, air gear that sorta stuff; I like shoju anime/manga :)

    PS, nice cock btw :)

Thanks. It is nice, isn't it? :biggrin1:

I'm thinking HMV could be the new series with english dub. I'll just get the OVA til all 26 episodes come out in english or I find out what it is.
