I like seeing new people in that they are trying to improve themselves. There is often a gym etiquette that should he explained with membership that would help. That being said, there are some lifers at the gym that need a review too.

I'm a trainer and I gotta say that even though the gym is packed and you sometimes have to wait for machines during the month of January - good for those folks trying to make a change! Everyone had their first day in the gym - this is theirs. Some will stick with it, most won't. But that's okay - good for them for trying!

Is there such a thing as gym etiquette if so what is it please? For those who don't know (thats me included :))

Generally for me:
- exhale on reps is fine and should be done. Screaming or loud grunts are ridiculous (slightly counterintuitive as well).
- please practice normal hygiene (i.e., deodorant). Im referring to upon arrival, when you sweat thats out of your control
- speaking of sweat, clean up when done on a machine/bench
- rerack your weights/dumbells/etc...
- if busy and on a machine/bench/etc, get off the phone and finish so someone else can use after being done. Rest during the reps obviously but im referring to those who will be there scrolling the webs for minutes at a time.

People at my gym use the equipment as texting lounges. They just sit there...and text. I'm standing there waiting to use the machine, but they just sit there.. and text.

That first one made me laugh, I could just imagine someone screaming, I wouldn't know if they are in pain or they need to take a poo really bad, I'm sorry

But yes you made some really helpful and useful points thank you :)

It lasts 2-4 weeks for those who try to be regular. For those who fail right away, expect to see them longer, but only on Mondays when they re-start their commitment. This can last for 3-4 months. Go to the gym Wed-Sat until April.

One I haven't seen pointed out is, wipe the equipment if you sweat on it. Don't have your music so loud simeoso else can hear it.

So many hot young men getting changed in the changing room. It was like Christmas ended and I went to heaven!

Same situation for me. And I live in a college town so it's great. Especially because the gym I go to has open shower heads, and without my glasses I can't see much unless people are using the showers next to me. That's been happening a lot the past few days and I get to see so much dick goodness lol.
