I’m curious to know what your listening to while you work out?

Whether it’s Tool or Mariah, I’m curious to know what’s on your playlist to get yourself jacked for a big lift, run or competition.

Even though I hate it in normal life, listening to classic metal always gets me in the mood to lift weights. Normally I’m a sad dad indie rock kind of guy .

Varies. Most the time to a youtube documentary, sometimes to Jazz, or blues. The problem with music with earphones is you might start singing. Not really good for the people around you or you if it them singing.

Used to just listen to some epic rap/ hip hop gym remixes but since a year or so I listen to viking music by Danheim.

Not this version, but I was part of production on this show.

Haven't been back to the gym since Covid hit last March. I'm a classical musician but find it's too distracting in the gym (I always joke that I listen to "hard listening" music, as opposed to easy listening) and I don't like any music when I lift at all.
But the few times I do cardio, because I hate cardio SO MUCH, I like to listen to Frank Zappa's "Hot Rats", Rolling Stones, or Thelonious Monk's album "Brilliant Corners".
Yeah, I know...I'm weird.

I quit my membership because of the LOUD noisy music; all heavy metal or ugly rock and (c)rap. I mentioned to the owner that all of us in the 9 am class were over 60 and would have liked something else. No dice...So I quit along with 8 others. Now I work out at home on Zoom in blessed quietness. Bought used weight sets and am quite happy.

I hear you @Golfbuddy... I wear earbuds at the gym. They do not allow loud music at my gym. My gym is morgue quiet and I like it that way.

Started building my home gym years ago so I could do my circuit training without interruption or worrying about being "That Guy!" Currently have built a gym station across Asking Alexandria, Starset, Falling in Reverse, Badflower, Skillet, for a partial run down. Keeps me pushing through on both cardio and lifting days.

Nothing at all. I like to hear what is going on around me. It's mildly entertaining.

The right type of music does have direct motivation on you, I noticed that even at work when I'm at my desk and doing something that mind-dragging. I logged into YouTube and picked out my favorite songs then my works got done.

Before COVID-19, I worked out at a local YMCA, it's an older building and they always had a local radio station on and you can hear it very loud and it's rap type music. Not my choice at all, I'd tried to ignore as much as I can and just focus on my routines. I enjoyed working out, so external motivations aren't needed.

I haven't gone to the gym in a year now, but I do a workout routine at home...and for the first time in my life...I am now running. Its just 2.5 miles, down to the river and back, but it's 2.5 miles more than I ever ran before. I've created my own Playlist, and this song always gets my pace up...

I'm fortunate enough to have a gym that is free for employee family members where my wife works.

Added bonuses: no blaring Top 40 club music at 110 decibels (most gyms blast these). No one there when I go (early in the morning). No TVs.

My preference is usually ripping death metal (Impaled, Morbid Angel, Carcass, Immolation, Dark Funeral, etc.) and old electronic/industrial (Skinny Puppy, Ministry, TKK, Throbbing Gristle, Revco, etc.)

Just depends on the day...
I have a lot of different genres on my slacker playlist...
From Abba to zz top... Brittney spears, Ricky Martin, ac/dc, Metallica, Madonna oingo boingo, Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, nwa, 2pac, geto boys, Budapest orchestra, LL cool j, ministry, Rob zombie,.... I'm all over the place.
Same stuff every day would bore me beyond belief.
