I'm in my 50s. I had a gym membership in my mid 20s early 30s -- and went a long time without one until my mid 40s. Most of my memberships ended because the gyms closed, and there weren't any viable alternatives. Times have changed -- there are probably too many gyms in my area now.

But anyone over 40 probably realizes how times how lockerroom behavior has changed - and that's for two reasons: technology and an over all prudishness that seems to have escalated even as porn became more acceptable.

That makes sense. It hasn't been my experience at my gym. Most of the guys don't do the towel dance and a lot of them sit in the sauna naked, and you still see quite regularly that one guy with his group of friends who will come into the sauna wearing shorts/leggings while all his friends are in the buff, or will do the towel dance while everyone else is hanging loose and limp.

I think they're more likely to do it when none of their friends are around, and most likely to do it if they're solo in their area of the locker room.

If there are any lurkers at my gym, I don't notice them. I come dressed for my workout and I don't shower at the gym. My time inside the locker room is very brief. I will hold a convo with the few guys I know well while he's stripping and even then, there will be a good amount of personal space between us. I have two gym memberships. These two gyms are very different. One gym has a very modest locker room crowd and it’s a young group. There’s lots of towel dancing and hardly any nudity, even the showers are private with doors. The guys seem like they are embarrassed about their bodies but I’m not sure.
