I'm sorry I caved. I know I should be happy with what I got but I'm not so why not change it? Also the wax comment. Wax is messy and hard to hide... And that's vital seeing how I still live at home... But I might try waxing and see how I like it.

You're only unhappy about it because of other peoples perceptions and media imposed ideals. I mean if you didn't have the experience you had, you wouldn't have even thought about it. Twenty or thirty years ago it wouldn't be an issue. It's just a fad anyway. Though a long lasting one unfortunately.

Go with whatever you want. I'm from CA also and usually the main rule is no shoulder and back hair. I don't know if it's a Californian thing but I don't really like the happy trail. The reason why you don't see to many guys with chest hair is because they are focused on tans.
