Is there still a hanky color code that some guys use to advertise their sexual desires?

Several years ago, very macho dudes (often those into leather also) would wear different colors of handkerchieves from their rear jean pockets to let other gay men know what they were "into." For example, I recall that a mustard colored hanky meant that its wearer liked really BIG cocks (a desire that I happen to share also--).

The other day I saw this very sexy, macho dude wearing really tight Levis with a blue hanky hanging way out of his left rear pocket. Anyone know what that meant?

And is this hanky code still going on today?

Those codes never went that far!!!! Maybe for a few years in SF.
I get a kick seeing old farmers with their wives who wear hankies.
I think there either snotee's or snoter's because they use them to blow their nose!

I remember hearing about those and wondering, in a very dark bar, how in the world you would get close enough to tell 'teal' from 'navy' (or whatever colors they are)..

if you get that close to their ass, why not just ask?

Allways wondered if this was a myth or if it was true.

The big leather shops in New York always have hankies of all these colors.

you'd only be "advertising " if the red hanky was sticking out of the rear pocket of some very tight jeans....

I don't think anyone actually uses these anymore. They fell out of fashion in the early 80s.

well, i usually keep it in my back pocket...but i dont wear tight jeans...nor do i frequent gay bars, so i think im in the clear

(no offense to any gay guys, i was just trying to poke fun at the whole idea...like someone else said, how can you distinguish between teal & light blue in a packed club?)
it reminds me in high school, everyone had those dumb rubber bracelets...and supposedly wearing a black one meant you were single, red meant you were taken, 2 reds intertwined meant it was a serious relationship, etc etc...

I think the hankee code was used more by gay men cruising out and about, not in the streets. It was a discreet way of advertising one's desires without wearing a sign that would out oneself to those not "in the know." As being gay and out became less of a stigma, there was less of a need for these secret codes, and they fell out of use.

Now the only time I ever see hankies in play is at a gay pride event or, of course, the leather bars.

Go into any bar with the word, Eagle, Spike, or Ramrod in it's Title and you will find that the "hanky code" system is alive and well.

Question: What does one do when one has multiple interests?

Is that a rainbow in your pocket or are you just happy to please everyone?
