All I know is with all this flooding in QLD, if the pubs run out of beer there'll be rioting in the streets!

I was just there a couple of weeks ago. Still one of my favorite places in the world. Happy Australia Day! Enjoy the BBQ, beach and fireworks or whatever you do to celebrate.

This picture is not me but sums up my feelings!

Thank you guys, as our day nears to a close. Worked today though because the sun was out, trying to catch up a little while the wet stays away. Ta again.

Although Australia day is generally a great celebration, there is also much discussion and controversy about how European settlement has affected indigenous Australians. Some people refer to Australia day as Invasion Day. It is a sad fact that indigenous Australians still have a signifigantly lower life expectancy than the general population and many live in sub standard conditions.

The tent embassy has existed for several decades outside the old parliment house in the nations capital, Canberra and it's signifigance is symbolic of how many of our indigenous population still live...tents and sub standard accommodation.

Although I regret that this demonstration interupted a function dedicated to honouring our emergency service workers, I understand the importance activists play in making change in our society. It should be noted that there were no arrests and no charges have been made.

Anyway, I spent the morning watching awards presentations and celebrations while getting ready to go to work. I feel very proud, patriotic, and emotional to live in this fantastic country. I love where we are at, I love where we are going and I love the diversity from which we merge.
