prepstudinsc: 227 years sounds old to our American ears, but when I travel in Europe, 227 years is still "new." Several years ago, I went to England to play a couple of recitals. One of the churches in which I played dates from the 12th century, with additions made in the 1500's. That section is referred to as the "new part of the building."
In America something is ancient if it was built 150 years ago. Kind of puts things into perspective.

Anyway, happy 4th of July to my fellow American LPSG'ers. Hope we al have a fun, but safe, day.

A statue of President Wilson was inaugurated next to where I live... radios broadcast "Born in the USA"... the American ambassador says he loves it because "4th of July is like a second national day of Roumania"...

:) :) :)

Ah,
227 years sounds old to our American ears, but when I travel in Europe, 227 years is still "new."

This reminds me a joke: "In order to have an English-style lawn, it's enough to cut the grass and wet it for a century".

Of course. ;D

7x6andchg: Ah yes Bastille Day - coming up in a week!

We don't look a day over 225 - and we are a young country - but not as young as our neighbo(u)rs to the North who recently celebrated their 136th anniversary on July 1.

Since I didn't SEE a Canada Day thread, although it might have dropped down already...Happy (belated) Canada Day to our Canadian friends. Thanks for being good neighbours and friends.
