We have a great joint celebration here between our two countries. Detroit MI and Windsor ON have the Freedom Festival every year to celebrate Canada Day and Independence Day. We have beautiful fireworks and celebrations on both sides of the border. Lots of concerts, food, fairgrounds. It's nice living in a city so friendly with our American neighbours.
HAPPY CANADA DAY to all canucks!!!

Oh my gosh! I've been in L.A. so long, I totally forgot about that (I'm from Detroit area)! That was always a great time.

It really should still be called Dominion Day

I used that term on other boards, where a thread had not already been started.

It has seemed to me that the national government should also be called the dominion government, rather than the federal government, it is a confederation, not a federation.

Bon jour de la confederation.

I am averse to politicians renaming holidays, Decoration Day to Memorial Day, and Armistice Day (the end of the war to end all wars) to Veteran's Day, I would prefer to celebrate peace rather than war.
Some curmudgeons are trying to insist everyone call the upcoming holiday Independance Day, it is most commonly called the Fourth of July, and behave like we are in the presence of holy relics with the flag.
