    NelsonMuntz84: Mass for me in the morning and then most of the day in the pub. Being a Catholic in the west of Scotland means many of my ties and family go back to Ireland and escape from the famine, so its an excuse ( I mean reason :p) to have some fun!! Even if Saint Patrick was infact Welsh! No Matter, its all Celtic anyway :D

    Hail, glorious Saint Patrick, dear saint of our Isle,
    On us thy poor children bestow a sweet smile;
    And now thou art high in the mansions above,
    On Erin's green valleys look down in thy love.

    On Erin's green valleys, on Erin's green valleys,
    On Erin's green valleys look down in thy love.
    Hail, glorious Saint Patrick, thy words were once strong
    Against Satan's wiles and an infidel throng;
    Not less is thy might where in heaven thou art;
    O, come to our aid, in our battle take part.

    On Erin's green valleys, on Erin's green valleys,
    On Erin's green valleys look down in thy love.
    Thy people, now exiles on many a shore,
    Shall love and revere thee till time be no more;
    And the fire thou hast kindled shall ever burn bright,
    Its warmth undiminished, undying its light.
    For God and Saint Patrick, and our native home.

    Happy St. Patty's Day to all my Irish LPSG friends!

    "Dance as if no one were watchin',
    Sing as if no one were listenin'
    And live today as if it were your last
    'Cause I'll kill you if you don't stop singin' and dancin'!"

    It's kind of a toss up for me on this day, in particular when three of my relatives who were irish have died.On one hand, I do like the festive part, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

    I remember an old irish benediction or blessing if you will that I set on all three of the gravesites:

    [/I]May the road rise up to meet you,
    May the wind be always at your back,
    May the sun shine warm upon your face,
    And the rain fall soft upon your fields,
    And until we meet again,
    May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

    That blessing was important for me, since I was very attached to all three of them.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! I'm part Irish and have been researching that whole side of my family. It's quite interesting history. If you're partying today, be safe, but have a lot of fun!

    I'll try to get out tonight for at least one green beer, but I'm dog tired from my traveling back home yesterday. Happy St. P's, everyone.

    Still recovering from paddy's day. Always come back to dublin for it.

    Dunno if any of you guys heard, but there were over 200 arrests in the city on paddy's night for drunken behaviour!!

    By irish standards thats a huge number!!!

    think the national figure was close to a thousand!!!

    Ah well, eat, drink and be merry!

    Slainte!
