70 degrees and sunny here. We just added a post to the deck so we can grow tomatoes and lattice to the front so we can plant a flowering vine to accompany our perennials. Daylillies are sprouting through the mulch and it is time to get a new water hose. YAY for Spring!

Now all I need is a bouncy summer song like Montell Jordan's "This Is How We Do It" LOL

I just got back from taking a walk down to the end of my street where I'm putting in a community garden through my block-club. I walked through the proposed planting areas with the head of the club, we talked about how we're organizing the volunteers who have already signed up, and when we're getting started. I have 16 antique roses (8 different gallicas and 8 different albas) coming on Monday which will be potted-up and grown-on a few months before planting. Perennials for beds 4' deep and totaling 88' in length are on order for late-May delivery. I have oodles of seeds and seed-starting trays in my kitchen waiting to get started as soon as I buy the seed-starting medium. The daylilies are popping up out of the ground, tulpis and daffodils are in bud, and there are robins all over the place. I get so miserable during the winter, but in the last week or so I've noticed a dramatic turn in my mood and energy level. Spring is here!!!

:)

It's a beautiful day in NYC! I just got back from a walk in the park with my dog. Now I'm going to start getting my clothes ready for a trip to where I just checked the 10 day weather forecast; cool and damp! Oh well.

One of my earliest childhood memories is splashing in mud puddles in our driveway lined by forsythia and pussywillow. It was sunny and 71 here today, the forsythia are in bloom, and the trees are budding out.
It's been a rough winter, and I am so ready for Spring.

This poem was on my mind today. It always reminds me of that early Spring day in my childhood.

in Just-
by e e. cummings

in Just-
spring ..........when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman

whistles.......... far.......... and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old balloonman whistles
far........... and........... wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

it's
spring
and

..........the

.................... goat-footed

balloonMan.......... whistles
far
and
wee

SPRING

Darkened skies rolled over the hills.

Drip, drip, drip the rain fell.

Streaks of light lit the sky,

As thunder rumbled through the hills.

The sun peeked through the thick black clouds.

And sparkled off the tiny saphire jewels still falling,

Magically forming a beautiful array of color.

I am totally loving these poems! I could see how fabulous they would look with some of Oh Yeah's photography....

It's always Spring or Summer in Florida. I love it here.

Happy Spring to those that are elsewhere.

I had a long drive home today through the countryside. The signs of spring are everywhere in the valleys and on the lower slopes of the mountains.

The farmers are out in force tending to their vineyards. Tractors with various cultivating implements chugged through the fields and weaved dangerously down the roads.

I love how the poplar trees, while their branches are still bare, have this faint greenish glow about them as the first tiny buds emerge.

These are my favorite weeks of the year.

How about putting aside your Americacentric world view for a while? LOL

Since I'm on the other hemisphere, this is the beginning of fall or autumn for us.

Outono in the Portuguese language.

The heat subsides, but in this latitude it never really gets too cold. Just chilly.

Just a reminder...
