Do you like your chocolate chip cookies hard or soft?

When I say hard I don't mean like a brick, but crispy like a Chips Ahoy (blue package). Personally I prefer soft. They can be a little bit crisp around the edges, but in my opinion a good chocolate chip cookie should bend, not snap.

i cannot sleep. and now i want cookies. :frown1:

you hit on the perfect combo. crispy almost butter fried edges with the gooey chewy center. and of course chocolate chip cookies must be consumed fresh from the oven.

Ohhhh, njqt, you've found one of my vices. I've attached a picture of who I turn into when this subject comes up.

I love soft chocolate chip cookies. However, I like harder ones a lot, too. And I like having a LOT of any kind of chocolate chip cookies better than just having one or two!

Mmmmmmm ... pass the milk ........

I like them both. The soft are good in many ways; and yet-yes, there is a yet-and yet; at times I prefer something hard with a nice crunch to it which vibrates the distance of my teeth.

The main thing though about my cc cookies is that they must be loaded with lots of chips.

I saw the subject heading in the forum index and wondered why NJQT would be posing such a question. Then I opened the thread and saw that it was about cookies.

Chewy and gooey and fresh out of the oven. Chips Ahoy are horrible!

But the only cookies I usually eat are vegan oatmeal/walnut/raisin cookies that my s/o makes. They're crispy and chewie. Yum!

Hard. It's how my grandmother made them and my sister makes them now and they're still the best cookies I've ever had.

The trick is that they're hard on the outside yet still a bit chewy on the inside. You can eat 20 of them and not notice.

Generally I would say I like soft...but I don't like chemically induced softness as you find in Soft Batch cookies (that stay soft for 100 years). I like soft cookies as they come out of the oven, but then they naturally get a bit stiffer over time, and thats cool too. Once they sit around for a long time (yeah...as if that happens) then they get too hard.

I guess I'm saying I like my cookies natural, as God intended.

My neighbor brought over a plate of snowball cookies last night, OMG they are sooooo good. But I cannot imagine how bad they are for you, they taste like pure butter with some vanilla, powder sugar and some ground up pecans in them.

I took a ton of willpower to put the plate down and not shove them all down.

<---- sneaks off to have another one.

Hard shell, soft center. Though I have tried some exceptionally tasty Choc-chip cookies that were crispy the whole way through.
