I have about three hardcore magazines and a couple tapes of an ex-boyfriends that I still check out every once in a while. The funny thing is that when I do, I find myself paying closer attention to the images of women than those of men; they're more aesthetic, I suppose. I don't think the basic image of a nude male would do much for me, which is why I'd opt for the hardercore material featuring the beauty of a guy putting himself to good use. My ex-BF and I would watch it together sometimes; it can introduce variety and help keep things interesting in a longer-term sexual relationship.

On the whole, verbal and literary material is much more erotic to me than visual images. Talk to me, write to me, describe what you've had, what you want, etc. I know that in standardized tests, women tend to slightly outperform men in verbal ability to the same degree men tend to outperform women in visual/spatial ones. Don't know how cross-cultural this tendency is or whether men's preference for visual media pornography is a corollary of it.

Ninja56, I don't mean this to be a putdown so please don't take it that way, but men generally are clueless when it comes to what makes a woman tick. There's no surprise in this for anyone, it's something we all know, so let me try to give you just a little bit of insight if I can.

Porn is a good example of how we're different. A man watches hardcore and becomes aroused by it, but a woman has to be in the mood already - meaning at least a little horny - before she's even interested. If I do watch it, then I too am more interested in watching the woman than the man because I'm identifying with her. That being the case, I'm not going to watch very long before I want to do it, not watch it. Am I making any sense to you? To add to this, I'm not interested in watching fake orgasms either. I find them to be a turn off, I think because I have a perception of a lack of satisfaction. Then there's the fact that they're just fucking, not making love, and there's a huge difference between the two! I need to be able to believe that the subjects have at least some attchment to each other beyond the physical.

Another good example is nudity, and again I agree with AmericanWoman. The sight of a naked man truly doesn't do much for me. I would much rather see a nicely dressed, good looking man with a nice bulge! I admit, I do look for bulges! But the clothed man rather than the naked one will catch my eye first. In other words, the bulge alone doesn't do it for me. There's soooo much more to it than that!

What you just said is such an eye opener! I had no idea this is what women were looking for when they watch porn.

I guess for guys, the picture of two people going at it like "animals" will hit us first, and then later on we wonder if the orgasm was real, etc......

Thanks, Karen. What you said tallies pretty much with what I thought. Actually, this whole "what makes women tick" question is extremely jaded in my opinion. I've never found female sexuality/thought processes all that opaque. In fact, they seem fairly simple most of the time. All you have to do is look and listen.

Sometimes yes, it is only good for a laugh........but I think it all depends on what frame of mind your in and what your looking to get out of it.

what do you expect? You're watching porn, so this film is about two (or more) people fucking, and all the other stuff is just side stories - so you can't expect much realism, or at least aesthetic storylines from it. I haven't watched much porn by myself, but I have been to several bachelors parties - and I'm from SoCal, which is the Silicone Valley of porn industry (silly-cone meaning tits, silly-kan meaning the computer stuff), and from the porn I saw there, I have to say I got most aroused by feature movies, or compilations, which avoid phony story lines and get right down to the thing. But I agree, the storylines are laughable.

Ninja, I do like porn sometimes, but this is only my opinion. My chief complaint with porn is that so many of the male stars are not very attractive. Why would I want to watch an ugly guy fuck? Most straight porn is aimed at arousing the male without intimidating him. This is nothing but bad news for the woman!

I usually opt for gay porn if I watch any. The guys are hotter and seem more into it than in straight porn where the women's orgasms are almost always faked. They also give better blowjobs, so it makes for a good training session.

I'm far away from being judgmental, and everyone has the same chance for my sympathy and friendship, but that aside, it appears to me that 90% of the female porn "actresses" look like clones. Well, I couldn't have sex in an air that consists mainly of the smells of detergent, desinfectant, aftershave and perfume. I guess it increased my respect for the girls by at least 300%.
