jackinman: Mandingo it's natural for you to be nervous but don't let that keep you from going to the doctor. As benterden mentioned......GO TO THE DOCTOR. Worry about the what ifs later. Your first post was on July 1, today is July 4, btw happy 4th of July to all of you....hope you all are having a wonderful one, but Mandingo please please go and make an appointment with a urologist as soon as possible. In fact first thing Monday morning call up ok buddy.

Well said benterden2001

kwame: Good news Guys!!! I just seen the news and it was reported if we masterbate at least 5 times a week that it would reduce our chances of getting prostate cancer.

awellhungboi: Hey, you didn't let us know how the exam went. I'm always nervous about doctors and stuff like that, but then when it's over my reaction is always, "That was no big deal."

Hope everything went okay!

I've heard that everyone will get skin cancer, if they live long
enough. Prostrate problems are pretty much the same way for
men. Pretty much all of us will have to deal with it at some
point. I've not had the cancer, but I did have an infection
several years ago.

The symptoms were that I had an ache in my side that
didn't seem to go away, and I felt like I needed to go to
the bathroom much more frequently. But then when I went
there was hardly nothing.

The ache was weird, the doctor explained that the
nerves aren't verly localized for some of the internal
things and sometimes you will feel the ache in one
place when the problem is elsewhere.

He gave me some pills and told me to masturbate
frequently ... not a problem.

By the way, tomatoes are good for your prostrate, and
watermelon is even better, for exactly the same reason.

oldman9x7: HEY! Just this past Monday I went for my semi-annual check up at the local VA clinic. They almost always have me pee in the cup, suck about eleven quarts of blood out of my arm and OF COURSE I get the finger up the butt treatment from the doctor. THIS time he told me that he sees a lot of guys who are half my age who would gladly trade prostates with me. Apparently, I have no particular enlargement at all. I also sleep the whole night through unless I have thoughtlessly swallowed copious amounts of coffee (or other beverages) during the evening hours.

By the way, when I first started going there ,some years back, he DID take notice of me when I dropped trous. Enough to ask if I still got erections and if I did were they really hard or not. He also wanted to know the size of my erection and seemed quite surprised when I told him. My point is - considering how many men he "sees" in his position - if he get's taken aback by my 9 x 7, what would happen if he spent some time on this board? He'd probably have to check into the assylum!

rikter8: As everybody else said:
Its quick, painless, easy.
It may be a bit embarrasing, to ya...but not a big deal.
Remember...he is your Doctor!
It will help to void your bowels before you go to the doctor. No brownie treats for doc - He will thank you for it.

Im 25, and had my prostate checked when I was 21 as well.
My health has been going downhill since 20, so regular checks are a must. When in doubt, get checked.

Go to a doctor that you feel comfortable with and get it done, while you have health insurance.

It is sorta fun. The greasy feeling afterward is not. My new doctor is female. I wonder if she will do it. Anyone know if female doctors do the exam?

I've had a number of rectal examinations, both with fingers and cameras. Also an annual
PSA test routine. Yes! Some will experience little or no discomfort, whilst others including this writer 'knowing in no uncertain manner, that I am being penetrated, then thereafter
been shafted.
PSA blood tests only give a number & indication of increased activity/changes over a period. An alert for follow up tests. PSA evaulations are not the 'be all' , they were once considered, hence recently been somewhat down graded in the overall diagnosis of prostrate cancer.
One factor which will have a definite bearing on your experience is the expertise of the
doctor/specialist PLUS his frame. I recall a rather large coloured guy 'checking' me out.
Done expensively very quickly - paid for - Both front & rear. He had hands the size of
a spade! To say the examination was thorough is a gross under observation.
All this aside, it is better to get fully checked out as early as possible. Delays can be serious. Miss diagnosis is always a worry too. The essential policy is, be determined to get to the bottom of the problem you are concerned about. Get it done. A short period of discomfort is the best way forward.

With the rates of prostate cancer on the rise, please, if you are a man over 40, get checked yearly. Like many cancers early detection IS the key!

and yep, get mine checked yearly. Do I get a hard on, depends. Have had the same (great) doctor for many many years. one thing I did discover, if s/he has you lay against the talbe, be sure you cock is up against your belly not 'hanging down' for me those tables get cold as hell.

one year I swear he was 'aiming' for that button, not sure what he 'hit' but went from 0-60 FAST, full roaring leaking hardon.... he did raise an eyebrow and offered a tissue as well. (on the way I out I did hit the restroom tho...)

I've had the usual exam and then I had a prostate biopsy. They put a chrome tube about the size of a small dildo up your butt. The doctor then takes tissue samples, which is best described as feeling like a nail gun. These are sent off to the lab for analysis. Then you cum blood for about 2 weeks, which is no fun. The first time I really freaked out, then relieved myself for about 2 weeks until clear, before I dared to be with anyone else.
