I recently watched this movie on HBO, (but don't quote me!), but it stars Helen Hunt. It's abt a disabled man--he got polio as a child and now has to spend 3/4 of his life in an iron lung, and was somewhat religious (Catholic)--it explores the idea of the disabled and sex....the man gets what's called a "sex surrogate". I, personally, had never heard of that term and had never even considered the idea of the disabled and sex. This movie blew my mind and got me thinking...and Helen Hunt did an awesome job in the movie & it didn't help that she was in her birthday suit in some of the "intimate" scenes.

So, does anyone have any thoughts??

I saw the movie when it came out beginning of last year. Helen Hunt was nominated for Best Supporting Actress Oscar for this, if I'm not mistaken.

She does a great job. In fact, the whole cast does and it's a oddly sweet movie.

I also seem to remember that it was based on a true story.

On a personal level I have no problem with it. I consider it a public service!
