Just seeing if anyone has an interesting experience of being forced to share a room with a someone they didn't really know or a stranger and if they, did if something interesting happened? Whether it was on a business trip where you had to share a room with a coworker, or a teammate from a sports trip or had to share a room because there wasn't anything else open?

Reason I am asking is because I am going to have to share a room with a future coworker next month that I haven't met until I arrive there.

A company I worked for years ago used to book two guys to a room. The worst part for me was sharing a bathroom with someone. I don't drink to excess, and one of my roomies did and that was just nasty. Another time one guy dropped his shorts to change in front of me and didn't turn away (as I would, just for basic modestly)-- I told my manager that when you take people out of their homes for a few days, I think giving them private time (single rooms) would be nice.

I have shared hotel rooms with male coworkers several times, particularly when I was younger, but always on our own dimes (i.e. on personal trips side trips before/after a business trip or non-work-related trips). In such cases, we were travelling as friends who became friends at work. As when sharing a hotel room with any other male friend, there was generally a certain amount of incidental nudity while getting in and out of the shower, changing, etc. One of the guys with whom I shared a room a few times had also been a workout partner with whom I had showered together at the gym numerous times, so seeing each others' dicks was already no big deal.

Totally agree. Throughout my working life I made it quite clear that I either got a single room or I wasn't going to participate in whatever event, course etc. they were sending me on. Almost every company that I worked for booked single rooms anyway, so it didn't crop up often. Even now I decline anything that involves sharing a room, even if it's just friends going away wanting to save money - I'd rather pay a single room supplement, if necessary, or just not go.

I don't stay in hotels...they are nasty and never ever clean. I only stay at night in my own tent and sleeping bag or I take my RV. My wife and I tent camped many times on vacations when we were younger, graduated to RV's in later years.

NEVER. It just sets things up for something bad to happen. And places liability on the company. Even if intended for team-building purposes, it’s a big risk.

If my employer claimed it was for economic reasons, I’d start looking for a new job.
