There has always been a funhouse quality to LPSG. Frankly I don't think it's any more surreal than it was when I first started lurking 4-5 years ago, though we have lost many more high-quality posters than we've gained over the last 18 months or so.

Bless you kind, good sir!

Does anyone else look at some of the threads on here and seriously ask yourself "What the hell is wrong with him?! Really?"

Have we as people lost common-sense? Is it due to our lack of communication with others, as we spiral into our self-absorbed existence?

Just know that the majority of threads around here seem to be started by the OP with the intent of fielding stories to get off while reading and the stupidity will at least make sense (but still make you roll your eyes).

I don't know about worldwide common sense, but I do find that there usually is a good mixture of serious, fun and bizarre threads on LPSG. Sometimes the perviness gets out of hand and/or repetitive though. I can only read so many "did your father ever slip on a banana and fall on top of your erect penis accidentally?" threads before I want to gouge my eyes out. But I guess ultimately it's up to each one of us to do our part to shape the forum into what we want to see.

Hasn't this been a common lament throughout the recorded history of mankind?
It is similar to when the oldsters ( me and my age group included) ominously predicts that the world can't or the US or other things can't last much longer if we continue on the current path.
In my own liftime I can remember lots of dire predictions, from experts, that didn't ever happen. I wish I had back all the money I've spend on books and newsletters telling me how to prepare and protect myself!
Usually what we worry about doesn't happen and something totally out of left field whallops us! Resources we didn't know we had always seem to get us through it. Only in hindsight do we truly remember "how bad it was". "I don't how I got (or we) got through it".

I suppose some amount of common sense is lacking and probably from the younger generations exorbitant use of impersonal electronic devices rather than actually falling and learning to walk.
But mostly I find the lack of self-accountability irritating.
I find many people these days who: don't care, don't own their mistakes and pass the buck.
Sheer lethargy, intellectual laziness and apathy are every where.
