Probably not. Certainly in the UK, Police and Border Agency databases are a lot more sophisticated than that (although they are far from error free).

I see PNC (Police National Computer) records on a daily basis and they not only contain your name, but also date of birth, place of birth, last known address and any known aliases. So, unless you happened to have the same date of birth (which given what you've said, you don't), it is highly unlikely you'd be mistaken for him here in the UK and I imagine the Aussie police operate a similar system.

On the subject of names mix ups, there was a very funny incident a few years ago where a cab driver turned up at the BBC TV studios to collect his passenger, who was an expert on intellectual property, and who was due to be interviewed on the news that evening about the outcome of a major court case between Apple (the computer company) and the record company who own the rights to Apple Records (ie: The Beatles). Somehow, everyone fromn the receptionist through to the studio floor manager assumed he WAS the expert, and the poor, confused cab driver ended up on the news being asked for his expert opinion on something he knew nothing about. The funny thing is, is that he just went along with it and tried to answer the questions! Here's the clip: BBC mistakes cab driver for IT-expert - YouTube

ha Thanks ignatius, and i understand you completely
guess what i am referring to in almost a jocular way, the sheer rivalry and mentality of the Aussie / Kiwis even extending to supposed professional Border controls/Customs etc
you can pretty well guarantee, that it was a possibility, if they took a mind to say 'gently harrasing' you, they would
esp if i was a little pissed fr eg, invariably was on the short trip
(can i help it if a Gay steward gave me a whole bottle of wine, once....ha)
so there detaining you, 'for the fun' of it, i am sure they would happily do
(never happened btw, well i happened to cease travelling there by then)
my age reference i was inferring i was safe? btw ha
No worries, all safe hah

I have worried about it in the past. So as a precaution, I decided to google myself and see what came up. Well a facebook came up, so I checked it. Thankfully though I saw this guy was the polar opposite of everything that I was (weird, but reassuring).

So I don't really fear so much being googled, since they would end up with the wrong information on me.

This is why I keep my "digital footprints" separate between my naughty and professional sides. You have to expect someone to try to google you, nowadays.
