Have you ever seen or have used a communal toilet? What I mean is a row of toilets without no partition (see photo). I've heard that in the military was like that back in the day. After all, modesty is a liability in the army. Also, in some countries, pretty much there's no privacy in public restrooms.

I have no problem with communal showers, social. I'm not shy, and social nudity is not a problem. But with "gang" toilets is where I draw the line.

Just curious about where do they exist and what are your experiences.

In some countries it's still common. It can be a culture shock to an American such as myself to do something that is supposed to be private in the company of others. I was able to travel to China with a group and we were allowed a quick restroom break. They did have male and female restrooms but low and behold you step into a small open space with several squat toilets along the floor in 2 rows facing one another. You are exposed all around. Many in my group were not comfortable with the toilet setup and opted out until we came across a toilet with at least some level of privacy. The culture in China is more open when it comes to restroom etiquette. People are really in their own bubble while squatting over the floor toilets and can utilize that time to do many things like read a newspaper or look at things on their phones.

Does your issue apply to trough urinals? They’re even more communal. Or are you only worried about doing #2?
Lol I hate those things. I once used a circular trough urinal. God that was disgusting. So much splash back.

My ex-was in the army and he did mention that he has to use this type of the restroom. He said the first week was the hardest to adjust but once you did it and its all good.

I remember in college when three of us guys headed to the john and it was at a campground in WV. When we walked in and saw the toilets in a row, one guy decided to walk back out, but my other friend and I just sat there next to each other! It was a memorable experience. I learned later that he had entered the priesthood .

I have no problems with communal urinals. I'm not shy when peeing. It's more about #2.

I guess if I have to do it and have no option, I will get used to as well.

Never seen a toilet totally open like that. Have seen some stalls without doors in a couple of locker rooms and actually in a bar once. I guess they were worried about people vandalizing the stalls or puking or doing drugs or something.

Used them in the army. Since I have a shit fetish, my only complaint was that just men used them. I would have loved to sit and have a woman on each side of me farting and shitting.

I saw toilets like that in the military in ft. Stewart GA. Sept the toilets were in the middle of the room and the sinks lined the outter walls. So first thing in the morning you could be taking a crap and facing someones ass as they shaved lol. I hated them.

Yeah, locker room bathrooms used to be like this a lot, and some still are. My junior high and high school bathrooms all had stalls but no doors, and in the locker room there was just a single shitter with no stalls at all. Some guys refused to use them, but when it was just your teammates around, it was actually kind of fun/funny. Since then, i've seen them in a few locker rooms or field house/team rooms and whatnot. So I've used one, but haven't had the full buddy dump experience haha.
