Have you ever misplaced something only to have it reappear where you just looked?

I was looking for my magnifier reading glasses that I had used earlier and had left on the nightstand amongst a few other items. I thought they were there, but they weren't. I go to the kitchen to get the pair that I keep in there, and when I get back to the bedroom, they were back on the nightstand where I had looked a minute before.

Yes and it drives me insane. I still can't find a Leatherman multi-tool I used months ago, when I know it has to be here.

You mean like the pencil I spent 20 minutes looking for only to discover it had been in my hand the whole time as I put it down to answer the phone?

It's ghosts. Or other spirits from the other world. They like to do these things to us. I had a five dollar bill disappear once from the shelf where it was secured with a paperweight and I went for a walk. When I returned, the bill was back. I still can't explain how that happened.

That happens to me sometimes too. I just chalk it up to senility.

One thing I am getting better at with age is looking right at things and not seeing them.

I used to "help" my daughter lose things, like her car keys. She would be ready to leave and could not find her keys. After searching the living room, bedroom, bathroom, etc, the keys would be found somewhere that she had already looked at about six times...LOL Ahhhh, I miss the good ole days!
