Anyone in or planning on visiting Hawaii?
I am interested in visiting, but it woln't be this winter.
Lived there the better part of my childhood (6-15) Cried the entire plane ride to LAX when we left. Broke my heart.
Sounds like you each need a trip to our islands.
im on oahu...
born and raised.. moved to the mainland.. moved back a year ago..
moving back to mainland this month..
I am ashamed to be from hawaii... its is INHO one of the most racist places I have ever been to.
I am happy to be going back to L.A.
Sorry to see you leave for that reason DLG.
I'll be back in Hawaii this Saturday! I work on a cruise ship that goes around the Islands year-round. I'm in Hawaii 10 months out of the year.
Which NCL ship. I can see them port on Maui from my house.
I spend some time in Hawaii (Kauai) each winter.
I used to visit Maui, but it got too built-up and too much traffic for us.
It's what happens when everyone wants to visit.
I am hoping to visit there this summer. Maybe late in the summer.
Pride of America
I'm in Kahului on Monday and Tuesday.
Pride of America is in the harbor as we speak.
Yup. When she gets back to Honolulu on Saturday, I'll be waiting for it at the Aloha Tower Marketplace.
What do you do aboard?
I'm a D*mn Waiter. Hoping that when I come back (my 3rd Contract) I can find something out of the Restraunt Dept.
Sad thing is, I don't know what else I like, since that has been nearly all my jobs since 15. Now I'm 22.
Last Monday your ship could not come into the harbor until after 100 because of the wind. then it left at around 6 and came back in.
yikes! can't say not to feel the way you feel, you've experienced what you have, but i can say on this island at least it is the LEAST racist place i've ever lived. maybe we won't ALL be labled racists now
try the caribbean on for size
the caribbean?? no thanks!!!
I dont know, I notice that I and 'the chick' get treated very poorly out here.
maybe its just me..
yer on oahu right? try and chalk it up to an unforunate big city reality. more people = more friction = more heat. that is NOT hawaii over there. the locals on the big island and kauai are insanely human in my experience so far
and yeah, the caribbean experience i had for four years, really wasn't racism as much as it was they simply hated EVERYONE. not fun.
