Starting a thread for the new beefcake-centric HBO show "Minx".
From what I gathered, the montage was filmed private with the nude guys, almost like to limit workplace nudity. The prosthetic was used with the guy who would be filmed with other actors, mostly female.Just watched the first episode and was so pleased with the montage, then immediately disappointed right after when the hottest guy has a very clear prosthetic penis. What’s the point of that? Why undercut the bold montage by playing it safe with the prosthetic. Kind of irritating, like they’re keeping a foot on both sides of the fence refusing to commit one way or the other.
I think the prosthetic is used because of the variation in flaccid length. Temperature plays a huge part in that. Having to maintain a consistent size is difficult for filming. Penises will jump from completely flaccid, to flaccid, to semi erect, causing inconsistencies in filming.Just watched the first episode and was so pleased with the montage, then immediately disappointed right after when the hottest guy has a very clear prosthetic penis. They're used because men are obssessed with size and fear of not being big enough.I think the prosthetic is used because of the variation in flaccid length. Temperature plays a huge part in that. That’s one reason. They're used because men are obssessed with size and fear of not being big enough.
I think the choice is the actors. That’s one reason.
But then there’s also the cinematic reason. The director made a choice based on aesthetic and continuity.

Not everything is fake. Michael Fassbender had no issue going full frontal or Karl Glusman in Love having actual sex. It's Hollywood. Everything is fake. Movies, TV is all about an illusion.
