I don't understand this reasoning. If we're going by the "I was here first' idea then the pagans should be given back the land the very first jews slaughtered them for. The territory wasn't an uninhabited virgin discovery.
And even at that, IIRC, it was never under jewish rule for more than a century at a time. Why don't we put it in the hands of the Italians, what with Rome having conquered the region and all...or maybe the muslims since they were next, no, wait, they were pushed out.

Not all of the jewish population presently living in Israel was contiguous so any argument saying that those persons have more right to the land than the muslims who were dispossessed is flawed. In my opinion the coalition of stupidity that decided to segregate land area by belief system should be shot as should anyone who perpetuates it. Segregation is a tool of the oppressor.

BTW, disagreeing with Israel's policies isn't the same thing as wanting them ousted.

At her age Helen Thomas should have be enjoying Caribbean cruises and tours through the vineyards of France, not sitting in the front row of the White House briefing room hearing variations of the same B.S. spin she's heard from nine other administrations.

In Cleveland, Ohio there was a woman of a similar age named Dorothy Fuldheim. For decades her signature for WEWS Channel 5 was the most trusted name in journalism. As she entered her tenth decade, the most trusted name in journalism became increasingly erratic on-air, much to the consternation of her producers, floor directors and cameramen. She would walk off the set during the news in plain sight in front of the anchors while they were talking, ramble almost incoherently at times, and in general show every classic symptom of mild-to-moderate dementia. The problem was, nobody knew how to fire the old bat as she was a living Cleveland treasure.

And apparently you were unaware the well armed Israeli commandos began their murderous, surprise attack on the Mavi Marama by opening fire on that ship, not with air guns, but with real guns and ammunition - causing immediate passenger fatalities . The passengers of that ship suddenly found themselves under attack and in mortal danger, with U.S. citizen Furkan Dogan and others being killed before their very eyes. Under those circumstances it was understandable why some of those threatened individuals chose to fight and defend themselves against the masked, murderous, belligerent Israeli invaders.

Point taken. It's real easy for me to wax philosophically and hypothetically about someone else's situation when I don't have to actually walk a mile in their shoes.

I can tell you that what most angry people want is "respect" and "understanding" though. I've disarmed many violent situations by showing the aggressor firm but conscious respect and understanding. Any hostage negotiator could tell you that is how to deal with people on the edge. Israel has had a hard time showing the Palestinians any of that and the Gazans in particular are truly on the edge.

As an impartial bystander, I can wholeheartedly tell anyone that Israel has acted with bellicose disregard for the Palestinian's dignity and has offered them little respect.

It would be charitable to say that it comes from a great deal of paranoia and nationalism on Israel's part.

It really just looks like a bunch of hate to me.

But I could be wrong... I'm aware of that. Maybe the Palestinians are the true villains, but it just doesn't look like that too me. I don't have to actually live in Israel and be frightened of terrorism. Maybe I would want to exterminate the Gazans too if I had to live in fear of Hamas and their missile attacks, but I doubt it. Hate isnt always right, hate isnt always justified. But i think if we were getting bombs thrown at us all the time and then insulted for not putting up with it...it would be pretty frustrating. I have several family members who served in other countries and have a mindset of what these people (the good or the bad) really go through day to day. It's sad. It's troubling but it is reality.

There is a small percentage of the planet that have some serious psycho-social issues and can't be reasoned with. I don't believe that all people on one side or the other have this particular problem. But often the people who believe in self defense are usually a bit more sane than those who believe in killing everyone who doesn't agree with you. Isreal has made mistakes. But i see them as a child on the toilet held at gunpoint and told not to rip a fart. It's just bound to happen when everyone watches your every move.

The people who are blowing their body parts across public places are sick and moreso the people who are talking them into it and feeling very honored that their son or brother got his internal organs spread across a bus are seriously battling something that can't be dealt with in a peaceful manner. You can't talk that out of a person.

It's like when we were dealing with the Kamakazi pilots and we eventually had to obliterate them to a pulp in order to get them to STOP killing their own people and other people they didn't like. Sometimes the spankings come hard and swift and a few people get spanked who didn't even do anything wrong. But it shuts everyone up for a while so other decisions can be made.

It's far more complex and seemingly simple to us. We get to type about it over here and analyze their situation. But how would we really react if it were us, our kids, our parents, our families. We need to remember that.

The way people pick on Israel makes sense sometimes, but most of the time....not so much in my little part of the universe. These people didn't just think they looked funny, they didn't give a fuck about what their names were, Israel is looking out for Israel, and if the Palestinians have that right, then the Israelis do too.
