Wow Red. I respect you for realizing that you need to chill. But I have to say this to you and Mr Snakey-
Disagreeing with the policies or actions, doesn't make make someone a hater or a racist or an anti-semite. It's an insulting connection to make. I am none of the above and vehemently disagree with many things Israel has done since the beginning. IMO they are their own worst enemy.
Put yourself in the shoes of the Palestinians and tell me you wouldn't fight back.
You and your family live quietly in a backwater of the Ottoman empire for hundreds of years mostly doing farming and not much of anything else. Then in the course of just a few decades, a couple of generations, these people from Europe start flooding in saying that actually, their great, great, great, ............... grandfathers had lived there before your's and therefore they had a better claim to the land than you. Oh.. and besides... God promised it to them. He said that they were is chosen ones, not you. So we'd like it if you would just leave and let us make better use of the land than you have. Not only that, these new people from Europe had just been damn nearly exterminated by some other Europeans and they need your land and the other Europeans and their friends agreed, so just move over... we need some space here.
I quoted David Ben Gurion in another thread and what he said bears repeating. (He was one of the founders of the state of Israel and it's first Prime Minister)
"Why should the Arabs make peace? If I was an Arab leader I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country ... There has been anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: we have come here and stolen their country. Why should they accept that? They may perhaps forget in one or two generations' time, but for the moment there is no chance. So it is simple: we have to stay strong and maintain a powerful army."
