Wow Red. I respect you for realizing that you need to chill. But I have to say this to you and Mr Snakey-

Disagreeing with the policies or actions, doesn't make make someone a hater or a racist or an anti-semite. It's an insulting connection to make. I am none of the above and vehemently disagree with many things Israel has done since the beginning. IMO they are their own worst enemy.

Put yourself in the shoes of the Palestinians and tell me you wouldn't fight back.

You and your family live quietly in a backwater of the Ottoman empire for hundreds of years mostly doing farming and not much of anything else. Then in the course of just a few decades, a couple of generations, these people from Europe start flooding in saying that actually, their great, great, great, ............... grandfathers had lived there before your's and therefore they had a better claim to the land than you. Oh.. and besides... God promised it to them. He said that they were is chosen ones, not you. So we'd like it if you would just leave and let us make better use of the land than you have. Not only that, these new people from Europe had just been damn nearly exterminated by some other Europeans and they need your land and the other Europeans and their friends agreed, so just move over... we need some space here.

I quoted David Ben Gurion in another thread and what he said bears repeating. (He was one of the founders of the state of Israel and it's first Prime Minister)
"Why should the Arabs make peace? If I was an Arab leader I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country ... I see your point, Vince, but for crying out loud - that teeny, tiny sliver of what was basically wasteland? Syria's land was given to it - why isn't anybody screaming about that?

So just because someone lives in a "wasteland" they shouldn't be outraged that their home is being forcibly taken away from them?

I have visited the charnal houses and it is a moving experience. The Jews lived in Israel long before holocaust. What disturbs me the most is how ant- semitic and racist this site has become. How anyone can defend terrorists is beyond me. They were offered more than their fair share of land under Clinton. Yasser Arafat turned it down. Why because they wanted to murder more innocent people. Many were school children on a bus. My how we have forgotten it already. So after years of Israel trying to make peace, they have given up. Please keep our pm's (or anything about the content) to yourself.

Do you know that their "peace" they offered was basically a bullshit deal? That offer of "land and peace," in reality offered nothing. The Palestinians would have no control of their water supply, air space, had military checkpoints everywhere, etc.- in essence it was a total bullshit deal and when the Palestinians understandably reject this deal, Israel turns around and says, "We tried to negotiate but all they want is the total destruction of Israel!!" Stop listening to Fox News.

It is a very simplistic view of things to say ALL Palestinains are terrorists and all they want is to kill every Israelite. That is pure propaganda. No, most average Palestinians don't want to murder the whole nation of Israel. What they want is to feed their families and live and be successful just like every other human being on Earth.

Try listening to outside news sources other than biased American media which is heavily influenced by Jewish lobbies. News from everywhere else around the world are all heavily criticizing Israel. Now, even the Whit House is criticizing Israel's recent actions.

Parts of Arizona is a desert wasteland. So if Mexicans just came and took over because they use to live there hundreds of years ago, Arizonians have no right to object? Also, it wasn't great grandparents. It's still happening now. Palestinians have been forced out of their homes in the Gaza Strip/West Bank area for settlers- ILLEGAL SETTLERS under international law.

In your heart of hearts you must see the intense irony of Starinvestor defending and rationalizing the confiscation of private property by a governmental authority, especially without any proper payment, and most especially when that governmental agency is/was the UN.

The other major point of consideration here is that this "barren desert" has been called "The Holy Land" for thousands of years. It is at the intersection of three continents and has been inhabited for as long as Homo Sapiens has spread out from Africa (including settlements of Neanderthals).

It is seen as the place of origin for three of the world's biggest religions; the Crusades were fought there. It is much more than a scrap of desert.

Well it was their wasteland and it was all they bloody well had and now they don't. You'd be pissed and wouldn't forget about it either. Don't deny it.

Syria? It was and still is populated by Syrian Arabs. The various foreign occupiers left and they have their own nation. Why would anybody scream? It wasn't somebody else's land and the Syrians came and kicked them out. It was the other way around Star.

I know a few Syrian/Arab/Türk families from Hatay and they are very kind and clever people. The food is amazing.

Again, so? They still fucking lived there, and they somehow managed to scrape by. They have every right to be outraged that foreign invaders came in and tried to steal their land out from under them.
