I've known LOTS of porn stars and every last one of the was also a prostitute. Just sayin'.

Yes, and that's true for women as well. You can't live strictly off the porn scenes.

Even the "straightest" of male porns have prostituted themselves (more than likely with men), provided porn became their main source of income.

Straight men in America crack me up: They don't understand that when a man enters into the porn scene big time, some gay will eventually happen. It's just the way it is. If you want to remain 110% straight, don't go into porn and only watch porn with titles like "No Man's Lands series."

No. You don't know anyone who is making lots of money jerking off on cam. You might know people who TELL you they do, to justify what they are doing... But there simply aren't people making 'lots of money' doing cam shows and porn. The LOTS OF MONEY, in both of those cases, go to the people who own the production companies, who use and toss the 'talent' regularly, because people who purchase porn and cam shows tire quickly of the 'talent'.

Don't fool yourselves. Your little fantasy doesn't have truth behind it. But, if you want to pretend you have porn talent, by all means, make porn. Just don't tell the world you did it for money.

As a moderator for several models on a number of cam sites, I can confidently say you're incredibly ignorant of the subject. I've seen people regularly make 150-300 bucks a day just for jerking off for a few hours. You're right about the porn not paying well, but that is straight porn. If he does gay for pay work with the right studio you can easily get 2 or 3 grand for a solo jerk off video and 2-4x more for a sex scene with another guy depending on how well you're received.

Your life isn't exactly ruined. It totally depends on the people around you and what they are like. Lots of people honestly won't care at all. Some people will be dicks about it. Only you know what your family and friends are like and only you can really answer that question.

And, in your foolish opinion, this is LIFE CHANGING MONEY? What planet are you from, oh wise moderator? Would you actually advise a friend, niece, nephew etc. to ruin the rest of their lives for a few thousand dollars, and 150 bucks a day?? Seriously?

Grow a pair. Admit that the porn industry is EXACTLY what it seems. I am not the ignorant one, you fool. You are on here, pretending to know things you DO NOT KNOW. Stop trying to convince young, naive, impressionable people that you KNOW something that you don't.

Got it? GOT IT??

Your foolish example is EXACTLY what I am talking about! 150 bucks a day can EASILY be made getting a challenging, rewarding, upwardly mobile job. Try waiting tables. Tending bar. Something that DOESNT RUIN YOUR FUTURE.

Don't listen to old trolls who only want their steady stream of young porn actors. Use your head. Not your body.

I would urge you not to do it! The one or two people I've known who have been involved in the sex industry did so mainly to finance their drug use, so if you need the money that badly perhaps it's time to address these issues, - not dig yourself a deeper hole! You will get HIV. Why are you not worried about this? If you already have it that doesn't mean it's okay to be reckless with yourself. Don't do something that is likely to cause you physical or emotional harm. I can see the appeal of it as a kind of fantasy, but I suspect the reality is very different. Maybe you could watch a few different documentaries about it and then decide for yourself?

Fuck this dude. You know how you can tell someone has nothing factually accurate to say? When all they can do in a debate is hurl insults and speak in absolutes. The nonsense he's spurting off is an uneducated opinion, nothing more.

Is there a chance he's right, yes, but it certainly isn't a guarantee like he seems to make it out to be. I've heard stories of some porn stars getting fired from their regular job at Subway because a customer was offended. There have also been people taken out of the military but that was during DADT was law. I'm fairly sure it's not that big of a problem now as long as you aren't in uniform at the time but I'm not an expert on that limitation. There can be lots of drugs associated with a lot of the appearances and parties you may go to if you made it big, but only you know if that kind of thing would be hard for you to deal with. If you were going to do porn I would also recommend doing it with a company that is stricter about std testing. There's no hard line rules about it in the industry. Some companies barely do it, if at all, and others blow tons of cash on making sure their models are safe and not all studios are bareback only, some require condoms. So look around for the place that works for you the best. The biggest issue most cam models have is people recording their shows and then putting them elsewhere on the net, sometimes making a little money off of it in the process. There's not a whole lot you can do about it except only showing your face in private shows maybe to hugely narrow down your viewership, but that could also kinda make you a commodity in a way too. It's up to you though weather that would even bother you or not.

Many cam models find it almost therapeutic and their regular followers often become friends. It can also open doors to other things if you want to do them. Actual porn instead of just solo cam porn, modeling gigs, exotic dancing, ect. I'm not saying you have to do those things, but it can open the door to them if you are interested in that. The 150-300 dollar per show figure isn't crazy money, but it isn't bad for jerking off by yourself. Do that once a day and you easily have a second paycheck at the end of the week for far less work that's significantly more enjoyable. Lol.

The bottom line as I said initially is it's up to you. Nothing is guaranteed in life one way or the other. Only you know the people in your life and how they would react. If they wouldn't really care, and the negative sides I mentioned aren't issues for you or you could outright avoid them, then go for it if you think you'll get some good out of it. Only you can make that decision if the life is right for you or not.

Just one sources opinion, but interesting:

Guess How Much Gay Porn Stars Make? / Queerty

This issue I have with that article is it flat out ignores some of it's own numbers and plays down others. 50k-100k a year is damn good money first of all, and second, it says right in the start that a very popular model could bring in 5k a scene but then doesn't use that number to calculate out how much a popular model could make in a year. Using their own numbers that would come out to 600k....Which I personally would be ok with. Lol. But generally speaking that's a fairly accurate assessment, just badly written.

You might check it out and see what's involved. I'm not sure about the country that you're in, but have a friend on the west coast of the U.S. They seriously wanted him, but he found out that the studio passed along various costs to the actors such as HIV testing, which was mandatory to perform. There were other things as well, but don't remember. Just like all other jobs now. Even reps in call centers are charged up to $50 bucks for a $12 headset.

Just be careful and weigh out the pros and the cons.
