Chantix (not Champix)

I always seem to make that mistake . It seems that my brain is convinced there should be a p in it.

No wonder my brain is convinced there should be a p in it - it's actually called ChamPix here.

Have you tried electronic cigs?

They sound like they have potential, but they cost so much money!!! I'm worried they'd be like the Nicorette inhalers (which are bloody awful).

My ex wanted me to quit smoking when we first started going out. I was at a pack a day. I made a deal with her. Every time I had the craving, we'd either fuck or she could give me a blow job. It didn't have to be 'til completion, just until the craving went away.

I literally quit that day and had the most amazing bunches and bunches O' fucking.

Now THIS is a deal that could work for me :biggrin1:.

I have to agree with Uncutsouthernboy, Chantix is maybe not the best way to go, but the way I went, and it worked flawlessly. How it works is when you have a cigarette, you feel worse pain than the withdrawal, so after about 7-10 days, you just stop smoking, and all the time you smoke less and less. It worked for me. After two days of being off cigarettes, I stopped taking it and there were zero cravings. But I have to caution you, some people say there's a risk of suicidal ideation with it as a side effect. I didn't have that, but just be careful if you choose this route.

I know several people who have used Chantix (not Champix) to quit smoking. Each of them say, even after 3-4 years, they don't get any cravings. Even the odor of cigarette smoke is nauseating to them. One of them had a heart attack at 42. The Dr. told him he would have to stop.

They each say too that the side effects for them were few.

I'm surprised no one elses has done this. The secret to breaking any habit/addiction is by replacing it with another (hopefully healthy) habit/addiction. In your case it would be an addicktion, and it would still satisfy your oral fixation (seeing as you don't like cunnilingus). To boot, it's healthy and promotes a stronger bond.

It's a win-win situation all around!

So, when are you coming over? :biggrin1: MrsR and I could tag-team you.

Those look like fun! I know it is pleasant to inhale the hot vapors off a cup of coffee or tea, so it must be similar.

I like them because they don't attrat unwanted attention. They are green and whte and the end lights up green so no one ever really bothers me or my wife. As far as how it tastes, I guess you can say it tastes like warm vapor that immediately calms your nerves if your addicted to nicotine. For me it was hard to replace the hand motions and the oral fixation of it. So that and gum helped alot.

Cold turkey is the only way, really. It is not that bad - after 1 - 3 months the cravings diminish to being very infrequent and no thoughts or "missing" of it is too bad at all. I saw the early, hard cravings as actually motivating - something I gave to myself and have to endure and I can do it. Then, before you know it, they subside.

One really great help, if you need it, is Alan Carr's book, "The easy way....."

Also, if you are smoking too, don't worry about how to help her, just quit too. You are not different and the odds are it will harm you in a very big way.

It is hard, but very, very doable. Don't give in to the mental trap that it is just so hard that you must say F it and thus keep with it.

I just ordered that book, everyone says it's great.

I think the e-cigs are about $100-$120 here, which with our crazy prices is around 5 or 6 packs, which is a week's supply for most smokers. Probably a small investment in the grand scheme! A colleague got one and it worked well for him. There's a slight odour but nothing significant. The other point is that you might only have 2 or 3 "puffs" to satisfy the craving, as opposed to smoking a whole cigarette.
