Someone else mentioned firefox too as being more resistant to viruses. As for the android based phones, haven't decided if I'm going to get one yet. Was considering the windows based htc, but heard they've been having problems locking up.

i had an issue like this a month or two ago. only it was called security tools or something like that. it installed itself, from god knows where (i don't go to unfamilair websites, believe it or not lol) and it says that you have X amount of "infected" files. you can't uninstall it. and the only way that would seem to get rid of it is to give them your credit card information. obviously, DON'T DO IT!

my brother and i googled it, and there was a webstie that told us step by step how to to disable it. i just googled it, and here's the info:
